Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Friday advised the student community to contribute to the nation and said they must have an outlook for the development of the country.
โEvery student must be disciplined and have an outlook for the development of the country,โ Naidu said.
While addressing the 31st Convocation of the Kurukshetra University in Haryana, the Vice President said that education is not just for employment and it is also for enhancement of knowledge and enlightenment.
Saying that there is a direct linkage between education and employment, the Vice President asked the students to aquire knowledge and skill to take up new opportunities.
The Vice President said that democracy allows meaningful debates on all pertaining problems and added that only constructive debate can provide answers.
โProtest should be peaceful and no one has the right to destruct public property. Violence cannot be a solution,โ he added.
In another occasion, while addressing students, the Vice President said that helping the poor and underprivileged is a part of our rich cultural heritage.
โHelping the poor or uplifting poor is not only the responsibility of the governments but also the responsibility of corporate sector,โ he added.
While addressing students and their parents after being offered scholarships from Amar Ujala Foundation, the Vice President said that Amar Ujala Foundation, as a part of its social responsibility, taking up a series of field activities that help underprivileged sections of the society, particularly the less advantaged including Divyanjans.
โThis Foundation is fulfilling itโs Corporate Social Responsibility in Education, Empowerment, Awareness, Rural Development and Health sectors,โ he added.
Saying that education and sanitation are important in our country, the Vice President said that public sector, private sector and individuals also should contribute towards achieving this.
โServing the human being is serving God. This is part of our responsibility and everyone should work for others,โ he said, adding, โLearn, earn and return to the society with the motto of share and care.โ
