The All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has recently come up with a thoughtful initiative to help students who have been at the receiving end of the pandemic. Being the apex body in the field of technical education, it has come up with the AICTE – Swanath Scholarship Scheme for Students 2022-23.
Within the framework of this scholarship, the following kinds of students will be given financial assistance to pursue their higher education:
Students of degree, diploma courses who
- Are Orphans, or
- Have witnessed the demise of their parents (either or both) due to COVID-19, or
- Are wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces who were martyred in action (Shaheed)
Note: An important tenet of this initiative is that the colleges and the courses have to be the ones which are approved by AICTE. A total of 2000 scholarships will be released which would include 1000 for degree students and 1000 for diploma students.

AICTE Swanath Scholarship 2022-23 – Beneficiaries
The AICTE Swanath scholarship has been launched for:
- Orphan candidates or whose either or both parents passed away due to COVID-19
- Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces who became martyrs in action (Shaheed)
Following are the major conditions which need to be considered while applying for AICTE Swanath Scholarship:
- Family income from all sources should be less than or equal to Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the financial year of application.
- The candidate must be currently enrolled in the AICTE-approved colleges and courses at degree/diploma level in regular mode.
AICTE Swanath Scholarship 2022-23 – Awards
Shortlisted students will be entitled to receive INR 50,000 per annum for every year of study (4 years for first-year admitted degree students and 3 years for diploma students). This would include college fee, computer fee, stationary items, books, necessary equipment, and software. However, the scholarship will be required to be renewed annually.
AICTE Swanath Scholarship – Documents Required
The necessary documents that will be required during the application process are as follows:
For Orphan Candidates
- Death certificate of father and mother, and orphan certificate issued by competent authorities
- Bonafide certificate issued by the institution
- Notarized affidavit on Rs. 100 stamp paper mentioning details as per enclosed format
- 10+2 or equivalent and 10th mark sheet for degree and 10th or equivalent for diploma
- Category certificate, if applicable
For Candidates who have lost one or both of their parents to COVID-19
- Death certificate of father/mother or both clearly stating that the cause of the demise was COVID-19
- If one parent is alive, a current year income certificate is required, which explicitly mentions that the income of the family is less than 8 lakh
- Bonafide certificate issued by the institution.
- Notarized affidavit on Rs. 100 stamp paper mentioning details as per enclosed format
- 10+2 or equivalent and 10th mark sheet for degree and 10th or equivalent for diploma
- Category certificate, if applicable
For wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces who were martyrs in action (Shaheed)
- Shaheed certificate issued by the Armed Forces/Central Paramilitary Forces
- Death Certificate
- Current year income certificate, explicitly mentioning that the income of the family is less than 8 lakh
- Bonafide certificate issued by the institution.
- 10+2 or equivalent and 10th mark sheet for degree and 10th or equivalent for diploma
- Category certificate, if applicable.
AICTE Swanath Scholarship 2022-23 – How To Apply?
- The eligible candidates will be required to apply online through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) on or before 31 December 2022.
- The selected applications will then have to go through the process of verification by the college or institution where the candidate is currently enrolled and the Department of Education (DTE) of the concerned State/ UT.
- The students will be required to submit the relevant documents which must be issued by a competent authority during the submission of the application.
AICTE Swanath Scholarship – Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be done purely on the basis of merit of qualifying examination which is –
- Class 12 marks, in case of a degree course, and
- Class 10 marks, in case of a Diploma course
