What is MahaDBT?
The MahaDBT is a pioneering digital platform developed to manage the direct transfer of benefits such as scholarships, pensions, and subsidies to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. The portal covers various departments, including Social Justice, Tribal Development, and Minority Development, among others. By digitising and centralising the process, MahaDBT eliminates intermediaries, reduces fraud, and ensures that benefits reach the intended recipients without delay.

MahaDBT Scholarship 2024-25: Departments and Schemes
12 departments offer 53 category-wise scholarships and schemes, based on various benefits tailored to the candidate’s caste, religion, and economic status.
Social Justice and Special Assistance Department
Vocational training fee reimbursement for the students from the Scheduled Caste categories
Eligibility Criteria
- Admission must be obtained through the PPP scheme at a Government Skill Development Institute or Private Institute, with selection made via the central Online Admission Process.
- Scholarships are not available for management quota-related admissions.
- The students must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category and provide a valid caste certificate.
- The total family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- Orphan candidates must submit a ‘Recommendation Letter’.
- The candidate should not have previously received benefits for the course from either a government or private ITI.
- The candidate should not have previously benefited from any training programs sponsored by the State/Central Government, Departments, Local Body, Company, or Corporation.
- The candidate must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra.
- Admission must be for DGT, New Delhi or MSCVT-approved courses.
- Meeting the attendance criteria is mandatory.
- The candidate must attend each semester/annual exam. In case of a medical emergency, a certification or recommendation from the Institute’s Regional Joint Director is required.
- If candidates demonstrate unsatisfactory educational progress due to misconduct, such as failure in an academic year or not meeting attendance criteria, they will be ineligible for the scholarship.
Benefits
- Students who have passed SSC with a family income of ₹2,50,000 or less are eligible for a scholarship as per the GOI norms.
- Students who have passed SSC and have a family income between ₹2,50,001 and ₹8,00,000 are eligible for 100% reimbursement of the course fee.
- For students who did not pass SSC but have a family income of up to ₹8,00,000, they are also eligible for 100% reimbursement of the course fee.

Government of India Post-Matric Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- The annual income of parents/guardians should be less than or equal to ₹2,50,000.
- The student must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Neo-Buddhist (Navbouddha) category.
- The student must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra.
- They should have passed SSC or an equivalent matriculation exam.
- If the student fails for the first time, they are still eligible for the exam fees and maintenance allowance. However, if they fail the same class a second time, they will no longer be eligible for any allowance. After two drops, if the student passes and advances to the next class, they will regain eligibility.
- For students studying outside Maharashtra, the same rules apply as per Government of India (GOI) regulations.
- Only two professional courses are allowed.
Benefits
Benefits for Eligible SC/Neo-Buddhist Students are as under:
1. Maintenance Allowance:
Provided according to Group I, Group II, Group III, and Group IV categories, from the date of admission to the date of the exam (maximum 10 months).
For Day Scholars:
- Group I: ₹550 per month
- Group II: ₹530 per month
- Group III: ₹300 per month
- Group IV: ₹230 per month
For Hostellers:
- Group I: ₹1200 per month
- Group II: ₹820 per month

2. Additional Allowances for SC Students with Disabilities:
As per the Government Resolution (GR), the following allowances are provided based on type of disability:
Blindness/Low Vision:
- Group I & II: ₹150 per month
- Group III: ₹125 per month
- Group IV: ₹100 per month
Leprosy Cured (All Groups):
Transportation Allowance: Up to ₹100 (for students residing outside the hostel campus)

- The institute should be located within Maharashtra and recognised by the government.
- For professional courses, the student must be admitted through the CAP round only.
- A maximum of one failure is permitted throughout the entire curriculum.

Maintenance Allowance for Students Studying in Professional Courses
Eligibility Criteria
- The students must be enrolled in a professional course.
- They should be a recipient of the Government of India scholarship.
- The income limit is based on the Government of India scholarship scheme, which is less than or equal to ₹2.5 lakh.
- The students must be pursuing a professional course and residing in a hostel (whether in a government hostel, institute hostel, or an external residence).
Benefits
The maintenance allowance can be used for professional course books, stationery, residence, and food, covering the period from the hostel admission date to the exam date or a maximum period of 10 months.
For students residing in government hostels:
- Course duration of 4 to 5 years: ₹700 per month (₹7,000 per annum)
- Course duration of 2 to 3 years: ₹500 per month (₹5,000 per annum)
- Course duration of less than 2 years: ₹500 per month (₹5,000 per annum)
For students eligible for government hostels but not admitted:
- Course duration of 4 to 5 years: ₹1,000 per month (₹10,000 per annum)

Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must belong to the SC category.
- There is no income limit eligible for the scholarship.
- They must be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade.
- They should have secured 75% or higher in the 10th grade.
- The student must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra.
Benefits
- Under this scheme, SC students who achieve 75% or more in the SSC examination and enroll in the 11th grade will receive a scholarship of ₹300 per month.
- This scholarship will be provided for 10 months each year, for two years—specifically, during the 11th and 12th grades.
- This scholarship is in addition to any Government of India (GoI) scholarships and freeship they may receive. Freeship is nothing but a financial grant that helps in the remission of the whole or part of the institution’s fees.

Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must have a disability of 40% or more.
- They must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra.
- They must be pursuing studies in a recognised university or institute.
- The scholarship is not applicable if the candidate fails or quits the course.
- The scholarship can only be applied for only once per course (HSC/SSC/Degree). It is not applicable for subsequent applications at the same level of education.
- The students pursuing studies in recognised institutes or colleges outside Maharashtra must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra.
- The students pursuing postgraduation in the medical field are eligible if they cannot practice outside the institute (e.g., internship or housemanship).
- If an Arts, Science, or Commerce student discontinues their course and later applies for a professional or technical course, the scholarship is applicable except for Group A. The candidates failing will not become eligible.
- For Groups B, C, D, and E, failing results in ineligibility for this scheme.
- For Group A, if a student fails once, they may be eligible, but failing a second time makes them ineligible for the entire duration of education.
- The students pursuing distance education from a recognised university/institution are eligible for ₹500 annually for books and materials, provided non-refundable fees are paid.
- The scholarship can only be combined with the Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship, not with other schemes.
- Full-time employed candidates are ineligible.
- Government hostellers not receiving books and stationery from the hostel are eligible for an additional 1/3 of the hosteller maintenance allowance.
- The students residing in a college/institute or other recognised hostel and paying hostel fees will receive maintenance allowance at the hosteller rate.

- For students enrolled in MPhil and PhD courses, the maintenance allowance is provided according to Post Graduation Group A, B, or C.

- The applicant must be a domiciled resident of Maharashtra. Those hailing from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border areas can also apply.
- The family’s annual income must not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- Only the first two children in a family are eligible under this scheme, as per the Government Resolution.
- Applicants admitted under the General category are eligible.
- Only candidates pursuing courses listed in the Government Resolution dated 07/10/2017 (DHE courses) are eligible.
- The applicants must belong to either General or SEBC category.
- They must not be receiving any other scholarships or stipends.
- The students enrolled in distance education, virtual learning, or part-time courses are not eligible.
- The courses must be approved by the Government, University, AICTE, PCI, COA, MCI, NCTE, etc.
- There should be no gap of more than 2 years during the course.
- The applicant must attempt every semester or annual examination.

- Deemed and private universities are not eligible.
- Admission should be done through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
- The applicant must not be receiving any other scholarship or stipend.
- Only two children per family are eligible for the scheme in the current academic year.
- The family’s total annual income should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- The applicant must have a minimum of 50% attendance in the previous semester (except for first-semester students).
- There should be no gap of 2 years or more during the course duration.

- Admission must be secured through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
- The applicant should not be receiving any other scholarship or stipend.

- The family’s or guardian’s total annual income should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- The applicant must have at least 50% attendance in the previous semester (not applicable to newly admitted students).
- There should not be a gap of two or more years during the course duration.

For Children of Registered Laborers or Marginal Land Holders:

Merit Scholarships for Economically Backward Class Students
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must have secured at least 50% marks in the SSC examination.
- Only the students who have passed the examination on their first attempt are eligible.
Benefits
Monthly Scholarship Benefits (For 10 Months)
- Hostellers (boys) will receive ₹140 per month, totalling ₹1,400 for the year.
- Non-hostellers (boys) will receive ₹80 per month, totalling ₹800 for the year.
- Hostellers (girls) will receive ₹160 per month, totalling ₹1,600 for the year.
- Non-hostellers (girls) will receive ₹100 per month, totalling ₹1,000 for the year.

Open Merit Scholarships in Junior College
Eligibility Criteria
- This scholarship is open to students from all categories.
- The applicant must be currently pursuing studies in Class 11 or 12.
- A minimum of 60% marks in the SSC examination on the first attempt is required.
- To continue receiving the scholarship, the student must maintain satisfactory progress and secure at least 50% marks by the end of the first year of Junior College.
Benefits
For students enrolled in Class 11 or 12, the scholarship provides ₹50 per month for ten months, totalling ₹500 annually.

OBC, SEBC, VJNT & SBC Welfare Department
Post-Matric Scholarship to VJNT Students
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant’s parent or guardian’s annual income must not exceed ₹1.5 lakh.
- The applicant must belong to the VJNT category and be a resident of Maharashtra.
- They must be pursuing a government-approved post-matric education course.
- Maintenance allowance and exam fees are provided if the applicant is promoted to the next class.
- If the applicant fails a particular year, they will receive tuition fees, exam fees, and maintenance allowance for that year but will not be eligible for further benefits until promoted.
- For professional courses, the applicant must secure admission through the CAP round.
- Only two male children from the same parents are eligible for the scholarship, with no restriction on the number of female children.
- The scholarship is not available if the applicant accepts another scholarship or stipend.
- The applicant must have at least 75% attendance for the current year.
- The scholarship is only available for a change from a non-professional to a professional course but not vice versa.
- The scholarship/freeship continues until the applicant completes one course (e.g., 11th, 12th Arts, B.A., M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). If the applicant completes a B.A. and B.Ed. and later pursues an M.A., they are not eligible for the scholarship. However, if they pursue an MBA after B.Ed., they are eligible as it is a professional postgraduate course.
- If the applicant switches to a different course mid-academic year, they will no longer be eligible for the scholarship/freeship.
Benefits
Eligible applicants from the VJNT category receive a maintenance allowance based on their selected course group.
- For Course Group A, hostellers receive ₹425 per month, while day scholars receive ₹190 per month.
- For Course Groups B and C, hostellers receive ₹290 per month, and day scholars receive ₹190 per month.
- For Course Group D, hostellers receive ₹230 per month, and day scholars receive ₹120 per month.
- For Course Group E, hostellers receive ₹150 per month, and day scholars receive ₹90 per month.
- This allowance is provided from the date of admission until the completion of exams.
- Tuition fees, exam fees, and maintenance allowance are fully covered for applicants enrolled in government, aided, and non-aided institutions offering professional and non-professional courses. However, if an applicant is admitted to a government hostel, only one-third of the hosteller’s allowance is provided.
- For B.Ed. and D.Ed. courses, 100% coverage of tuition fees, exam fees, and maintenance allowance is provided. For students in aided and unaided institutions offering these courses, the fee structure follows the government mandate.
Important Note: If an applicant is admitted on or before the 20th of any month, a maintenance allowance for that month will be issued. Otherwise, the allowance will be granted from the following month.
