What is AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme?
Pragati was launched by the Government of India in 2014-15 to get more young women into technical education. AICTE implements it under the theme “Empowering Women through Technical Education”.
The scheme has grown substantially since launch. It started with 4,000 scholarships, one girl per family and a ₹6 lakh income cap. Today it offers 10,000 merit seats, allows two girls per family, has an ₹8 lakh income cap and a flat ₹50,000 annual grant, plus unlimited seats for eligible girls from 13 North Eastern States and UTs.

Who Can Apply for Pragati Scholarships?
To apply, a girl student must meet every condition in the table below. The rules are the same for the degree and diploma schemes unless stated otherwise.

How to Apply for Pragati Scholarship 2026 on NSP
2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if you have not done it already. You will receive an OTR ID on your registered mobile number.
3. Log in with your OTR ID and select academic year 2026-27.
4. From the list of schemes, choose “AICTE – Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students (Technical Degree)” or “(Technical Diploma)”, depending on your course.
5. Fill in personal, academic, income and bank details exactly as they appear on your documents.
7. Ask your college scholarship cell to verify your application on NSP before November 15, 2026.
Pragati Scholarship Amount: How Much You Get in Total
Each selected student gets ₹50,000 per year as a lump sum. It can be used for college fees, a computer, books, stationery, equipment or software. No bills or proof of spending need to be submitted.

Pragati Scholarship Scheme: State-wise Seat Distribution
Seats for AICTE Pragati Scholarships are allotted in proportion to each state’s share of AICTE-approved seats, with a minimum of 50 per state. The cap is 800 seats per state for degree and 700 for diploma. Merit lists are prepared state-wise, so you compete only with applicants from your own state.

Documents Required for Pragati Scholarship
There are a few necessary documents that the applicants must keep with them while filling the Pragati Scholarship application form. The candidates must upload scanned copies of the following documents to complete their application process.

6. Annual family income certificate of the preceding financial year in the prescribed format by the Tehsildar or above competent Authority
7. Admission letter issued by the Centralised Admission Authority to first-year Degree/Diploma programs for the current academic year
8. Receipt of paid tuition fee for the current academic year
9. Aadhaar-seeded bank passbook showing the applicant’s name, account number, IFSC code and photo pasted at an appropriate place, duly signed by the Manager with a rubber stamp of the bank affixed on it
10. Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/HOD as per the prescribed format
11. Attested copy of caste certificate, in case the applicant is applying for SC/ST/OBC category
12. A duly signed declaration by parents as per the prescribed format, which states that the information provided by the applicant is correct and the scholarship amount would be refunded in case any false information is found at any stage.
What Happens After You Apply for Pragati Scholarship
1. Verification: Your institute verifies the application first, then the State/UT DTE verifies it as a second level of scrutiny. For the Pragati scholarship 2026, your institute must complete the verification process by 15 November 2026.
2. Merit list: AICTE uploads a provisional list of shortlisted candidates on its website.
3. Merit-list complaints: Raise them within one month of the list being published. Queries after that are not entertained.
4. Payment: The scholarship is credited once a year through DBT to the student’s bank account.
5. Payment Failures: Complaints about non-payment due to a wrong or invalid account number are accepted only up to six months from the merit list date.

Pragati Scholarship Renewal 2026-27
The scholarship is not automatic after the first year. You must apply for renewal on NSP every year.
1. Who can renew in 2026-27: Degree students from the 2023-24 batch, and degree and diploma students from the 2024-25 and 2025-26 batches.
2. What to upload: Your passing certificate or marksheet for the previous year, along with a letter from the Head of your Institution.
3. Deadline: The same as fresh applications – October 31, 2026, with institute verification by November 15, 2026.
4. If you are not promoted to the next year, fail or drop out, the scholarship stops and cannot be renewed.
Pragati Scholarship 2026-27 – Terms and Conditions
There are a few terms and conditions that the candidates should keep in mind. Find the Pragati Scholarship terms and conditions highlighted below.
1. Only the students who have been admitted in the first year of their degree/diploma program in the current academic year can apply for this scholarship.
2. The scanned copies of the applicant’s passport-size photo and signature must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format while filling out the application form. The file size of the photo should not be more than 200 kb and the signature should not be more than 50 KB.
3. Students admitted through the management quota are not eligible to apply for the AICTE Pragati Scholarship.
4. Applicants must have a general savings account in a bank. They cannot use a FRILL/Minor/Joint account.
5. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is used to directly transfer the scholarship amount into the selected candidate’s bank account.
6. The scholarships for degrees and diplomas are transferable in the event of non-availability of eligible applicants in any of the degree/diploma level programmes.
