What is Samagra ID?

Before applying for almost any scheme on this portal, you’ll need a Samagra ID- a unique identity number issued under Madhya Pradesh’s Samagra Samajik Suraksha Mission (SSSM). It comes in two parts: an 8-digit Family ID and a 9-digit Member ID for each individual within that family.

This isn’t a minor formality – it’s how the portal verifies eligibility, prevents duplicate claims, and links your application to Aadhaar for DBT transfers. If you don’t already have one:

Steps to Create Samagra ID

Step 1: Visit the official Samagra portal at samagra.gov.in.

Step 2: Select ‘Register Family’ under the family/member registration section.

Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar number of the family head and complete e-KYC via OTP (the Aadhaar must be linked to an active mobile number).

complete eKYC via OTP

Step 4: Provide personal details – name, date of birth, gender, caste, marital status, and address and submit.

Your application is reviewed by the local Gram Panchayat or municipal corporation. Once approved, you’ll receive your Family ID and Member ID via SMS or WhatsApp. Additional family members can be added later using the ‘सदस्य पंजीकृत करें’ (Register Member) option. Given the approval step involves a local body, it’s worth applying for this well before you actually need it for a scholarship deadline.

FAQs: MP Scholarship Portal

Q1. I have a Samagra ID, but the MP Scholarship Portal isn’t recognising it during registration. What should I check first?

Confirm the Samagra ID is fully activated – Family and Member registration must be approved by your local Gram Panchayat or municipal corporation before it’s usable on the scholarship portal. A pending or unapproved Samagra ID won’t validate during registration, even if the number itself was issued to you.

Q2. Which key higher education schemes can I apply for directly on the MP Scholarship Portal?

The MP Scholarship Portal (Portal 2.0) hosts state-run schemes such as the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC students, the Vikramaditya Free Education Scheme for General category EWS students, and girl-child support initiatives like the Gaon Ki Beti and Pratibha Kiran Yojna.

Q3. I’m in the SC/ST/OBC category. Do I apply on the MP Scholarship Portal or MPTAAS?

It depends on which department administers your specific scheme. General Post-Matric SC/ST/OBC scholarships often run through the main portal, while Tribal Welfare Department-specific schemes run through MPTAAS. Since eligibility can overlap, check both platforms for your category rather than assuming only one applies to you.

Q4. My application on the MP Scholarship Portal shows “approved”, but I haven’t received any funds. What does that mean?

Approval and disbursement are two separate stages. Once approved, funds are released via Direct Benefit Transfer, which depends on your bank account being correctly seeded with Aadhaar. If disbursement is delayed beyond a reasonable window, verify your bank-Aadhaar linkage before assuming there’s an error with your application itself.

Q5. Can I apply for more than one scholarship scheme on the MP Scholarship Portal in the same year?

You can apply to multiple schemes if you separately meet each one’s eligibility criteria, but most schemes don’t permit duplicate benefits for the same course in the same academic year; check individual scheme rules rather than assuming multiple approvals will all result in separate payouts.
