Telangana Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

What are the key eligibility conditions that you need to follow to win a Telangana scholarship? This question is obvious to occur in your mind while discussing scholarships for Telangana students. One of the key eligibility conditions which are applicable to all the scholarships is that the students must be a domicile or permanent resident of Telangana state. Besides this, each scholarship has its own set of eligibility criteria that you need to fulfil. The table given below highlights all of them.

  • This scholarship is applicable for students who belong to SC/ST/BC/EBC/Minority/Disabled categories.
  • They must be studying in class 9 and 10.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 2 Lakh (for SC/ST students and BC/Minority welfare students of the urban area), INR 1.5 Lakh (for BC/Minority welfare students of the rural area) and INR 1 Lakh (for EBC/Disabled welfare students).
  • The students also need to have an attendance of 75% or above at the end of each quarter.
2. Telangana Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for SC/ST/BC/Disabled Welfare
  • The scholarship is open for students belonging to SC/ST/BC/EBC/Disabled welfare categories.
  • They must have passed class 10th with at least 75% attendance at the end of each quarter.
  • The scholarship is applicable for studies at post-matriculation level (class 11 to post-graduation).
3. Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Overseas Vidya Nidhi, Telangana
  • The scholarship is applicable for graduate students belonging to Backward Classes who are willing to pursue a postgraduate course from a foreign university.
  • They must have obtained 60% or more marks in the foundation degree in streams like engineering, management, pure sciences, humanities, social sciences, agriculture sciences and medicine & nursing.
  • The age of the student should not be more than 30 years as on 1st July of the year of application.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 1.5 Lakh (in rural areas) and INR 2 Lakh (in urban areas).
  • The student must be the single child of the family.
4. Telangana National Talent Search Examination
  • The examination is open for students of class 10th who are studying at a recognised school in Telangana.
  • The students who have already been selected for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) and are studying in class 10th can also apply only if they forego the further NMMS scholarships.
5. Telangana National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)
  • The scholarship is open for students of class 9 and their continuation of studies in class 10 to 12.
  • The students who are studying at NVS, Sainik Schools, KVS and private schools are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 1.50 Lakh.
  • The minimum percentage requirement in class 8th exam is 55% or equivalent (relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST students).
  • In order to appear for the selection test of the scholarship, the applicants need to have obtained a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent in class 7th (relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST students).
  • To ensure the continuation of scholarship in class 10, the students need to get clear promotion from class 9 in the first attempt with at least 55% marks or equivalent (relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST students).
  • For continuation of scholarship in class 11, the students need to get clear promotion from class 10 in the first attempt with at least 60% marks or equivalent (relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST students).
  • For continuation of scholarship in class 12, the students need to get clear promotion from class 11 in the first attempt with at least 55% marks or equivalent (relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST students).
6. Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities
  • The scholarship is open for students belonging to the minority community.
  • The applicant must be a graduate or postgraduate with 60% marks in streams like Engineering, Pure Sciences, Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, Agriculture Sciences and Medicine & Nursing
  • The applicant must be willing to pursue a postgraduate/doctoral course abroad in USA, UK, Canada, Singapore and Australia.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 2 Lakh from all sources.
  • The age of the applicant should not exceed 30 years as on 1st July of the year of application.
7. Vidyadhan Scholarship Program
  • The scholarship is open for students who have passed class 10/SSLC from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 2 Lakh from all sources.

Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Overseas Vidya Nidhi, Telangana

The Government of Telangana runs this scholarship with an objective of motivating backward class students to pursue their higher education in foreign universities.

Students who are the only child in their family and have secured 60 percent or more in their foundation degree in Management, Engineering, Pure Sciences etc. are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

The scholarship covers institution fee, living expense, education loan, passage grant and visa fees.

Imperial College Business School Advisory Board Scholarships

Students who are interested in pursuing full-time MBA course from the imperial college business school can apply for this scholarship after meeting the required eligibility criteria.

Meritorious students having three years of relevant postgraduate work experience and meeting the required level of GMAT or GRE scores are eligible to apply. Each successful applicant will receive an amount of GBP 51,000.

DLF Foundation Scholarship (AKANKSHA)

The DLF Foundation offers this scholarship to underprivileged students with an objective of providing them with better career opportunities and improved livelihood for them and their families as well.

Meritorious students entering into the first year of their UG or PG courses who have a secured seat for any of the applicable courses at UGC/NAAC approved institutes or colleges can apply for this scholarship.

Each selected scholar will be awarded an amount of INR 50,000 p.a.

Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme

The objective of this scheme is to provide specialized training to talented students in diverse cultural fields focusing on rare art forms that are on the threshold of extinction.

Applicants of the age group of 10 to 14 years, studying in recognized school or belonging to families practising traditional performing arts are eligible for this scholarship. Selected candidates will be rewarded with INR 3,600 per annum and up to INR 9000 of reimbursement.

Lok Sabha Research Fellowships

The parliament of India provides this amazing opportunity for the researchers falling under the age group of 25 to 70 years to undertake high standard research on parliamentary themes.

Candidates having a master’s degree in any of the social science disciplines with outstanding research publications at the time of application with expertise in his or her own domain are eligible to apply.
