Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children – A step ahead towards your academic journey!

‘Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children’ is an initiative of Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services Limited (MMFSL) to provide financial assistance to the children of the drivers’ community for supporting them in continuing their education. Mahindra Finance believes in empowering the academic and career goals of children of drivers by removing the financial barrier. Under this scholarship, students from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana who are studying in classes 1 to 12, graduation and postgraduation level will be provided with a one-time (fixed) financial assistance of up to INR 20,000 to cover their academic expenses.

Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children – An Overview

Mahindra Finance, a part of the Mahindra Group, is one of India’s leading non-banking finance companies operating in rural and semi-urban India. The company has introduced this scholarship program as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Flagship program “Swabhimaan” with an objective to financially support underprivileged children/wards of the drivers’ community in continuing their education.

Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children – Eligibility

The scholarship is open to students from Class 1 to 12 and those pursuing graduation, post-graduation. Here are the eligibility criteria for each group- 

For ‘Saksham Scholarship Program for Class 1-8 Students 2022-23’

  • Open for students belonging to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Telangana.
  • Applicants must be studying in Classes 1 to 8.
  • One of the parents should be a driver (all light motor vehicles and small commercial vehicles such as Taxi, Jeep, Car & delivery vans such as Pickup, magic, school vans, etc.) and should hold a valid driving license.
  • The annual family income of the applicants from all sources should not be more than INR 4,00,000.
  • Children or family members of Mahindra Finance & Buddy4Study are not eligible.

For ‘Saksham Scholarship Program for Class 9-12 Students 2022-23’

  • Open for students of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Telangana.
  • Applicants must be studying in Classes 9 to 12.
  • Applicants must have secured 60% and above marks in their previous class.
  • One of the parents should be a driver (all light motor vehicles and small commercial vehicles. such as Taxi, Jeep, Car & delivery vans such as Pickup, magic, school van, etc.) and hold a valid driving license.
  • The annual family income of the applicants from all sources should not exceed INR 4,00,000.
  • Children or family members of Mahindra Finance & Buddy4Study are not eligible.

For Saksham Scholarship Program for Graduate Students 2022-23

  • Open for students from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana.
  • Applicants must be studying in any year of their graduation courses (both general and professional).
  • Applicants must have secured 60% and above marks in their previous class.
  • One of the parents should be a driver (all light motor vehicles and small commercial vehicles such as Taxi, Jeep, Car & delivery vans such as Pickup, magic, school van, etc.) and should hold a valid driving license.
  • Annual family income of the applicants from all sources should not be more than INR 4,00,000.
  • Children or family members of Mahindra Finance & Buddy4Study are not eligible.

For Saksham Scholarship Program for Postgraduate Students 2022-23

  • Open for students from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana.
  • Applicants must be studying in any year of their postgraduation course (both general and professional).
  • Applicants must have secured 60% and above marks in their previous class.
  • One of the parents should be a driver (all light motor vehicles and small commercial vehicles such as Taxi, Jeep, Car & delivery vans such as Pickup, magic, school vans, etc.) and should hold a valid driving license.
  • Annual family income of the applicants from all sources should not be more than INR 4,00,000.
  • Children or family members of Mahindra Finance & Buddy4Study are not eligible.

NOTE: All the scholarships will be awarded to a maximum of two students per family.

Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children – Award Details

The scholars selected under Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children will receive the financial assistance as detailed below – 

  • For Class 1-8 students – INR 5,000 for 1 year
  • For Class 9 and 10 students – INR 8,000 for 1 year 
  • For Class 11 and 12 students – INR 10,000 for 1 year
  • For graduate students – INR 15,000 for 1 year
  • For postgraduate students – INR 20,000 for 1 year

The eligible candidates can apply for the Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children online by following the steps mentioned below:  

  • Visit the official scholarship page.
  • Read all the details carefully and Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button of the respective category of scholarship.
  • Login to Buddy4Study using a registered ID to land on the ‘Online Application Form Page’.
    • If not registered – Register with your Email/Mobile Number/Gmail account. 
  • You will now be redirected to the ‘Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children’  application form page.
  • Click on the ‘Start Application’ button to begin the application process.
  • Fill in the required details in the online application form.
  • Upload the relevant documents.
  • Accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’ and click on ‘Preview’. 
  • If all the details filled in by the applicant are correctly showing on the preview screen, click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the application process.

The selection of scholars for the Saksham Scholarship Program for Drivers’ Children will be made based on their academic merit and financial background. It involves a multi-stage process as detailed below –

  • Initial shortlisting of applicants based on their academic merit and financial background
  • Telephonic interview (from Class 11 onwards) of shortlisted candidates followed by document verification
  • Final interview with the scholarship selection committee for final selection
