Maharashtra Scholarship – Key Eligibility

  • The students pursuing professional courses like engineering, medical, animal husbandry, etc. can apply for the scholarship.
  • The annual income of the family should be less than or equal to INR 1 Lakh.
  • The applicant must be residing in a government hostel attached to the professional college.

24. State Government Daxshina Adhichatra Scholarship, Maharashtra For all
  • The scholarship is applicable for graduate students from non-agricultural universities.
  • They must be studying in Maharashtra only.
25. Eklavya Scholarship, Maharashtra For all
  • The students who have completed their graduation in arts, science, law and commerce stream and have taken admission in a postgraduate program can apply for the scholarship.
  • The minimum percentage of marks to be obtained by them is 60% (for arts, commerce and law stream) and 70% (for science stream).
  • The annual income of the family should be less than INR 75,000 from all sources.
  • The students engaged in full-time or part-time employment cannot apply.

Maharashtra Scholarships – Step-wise Application Guide

Where and how can you apply for Maharashtra scholarship? Is the application process online or offline? The answer to these questions is covered in this section. Here, you will get the step-by-step guide to apply for any of the Maharashtra scholarships. While most of the scholarships invite online applications through mahadbt scholarship portal, there are some scholarships which prefer the offline mode of applications, especially the pre-matric scholarships. The step-wise description for both online and offline application process is given hereunder.

Maharashtra Scholarships – Online Application

The Government of Maharashtra also operates its online scholarship application portal namely, mahadbt scholarship portal through which the students can apply for many Maharashtra scholarships. What are the steps to be followed to apply for the scholarships through mahadbt scholarship portal? The answer to this question is given hereunder –

Step 1: Online Registration at Mahadbt

The students are open to both UID based registration and non-UID based registration.

UID based registration for Maharashtra Scholarships
  • Visit the mahadbt scholarship website.
  • Click on “New Applicant Registration”.
  • Click on “Yes” and enter your Aadhaar number to proceed.
  • Authenticate your Aadhaar details either by using OTP (through linked mobile number) or by using Biometric (if the mobile number is not linked with Aadhaar)
  • Once, the Aadhaar details are authenticated, fill in all the required details on the registration form.
  • Create your login details (username and password)
  • Verify your email ID and mobile number through OTP for successful registration.
  • Save all details and proceed.
Non-UID based registration
  • Visit the mahadbt scholarship website.
  • Click on “New Applicant Registration”.
  • Click on “No” and register either by using the Aadhaar enrolment ID or by knowing the current status of your Aadhaar number.
  • Fill in all required details.
  • Verify your email ID and mobile number through OTP for successful registration.
  • Create your login details (username and password)
  • Upload your photograph as specified and other supporting documents (identity proof, address proof and birth proof.
  • Click on “Register” to complete registration.

Step 2: User Login

  • Once successfully registered, you can log in in mahadbt scholarship portal by clicking on “Applicant login”.
  • Enter your registered username and password to log in.
  • In case, you forget your password, you can click on “Forget password” button to retrieve it.

Step 3: Applying for Maharashtra scholarships through user dashboard

  • Once you have successfully logged in, you will be directed to the user dashboard.
  • Click on “Profile” to update your profile.
  • If your profile is 100% complete, you will get the list of suggested eligible scholarship schemes.
  • Select the scholarship you want to apply for.
  • Click on the “Apply” button to proceed with the scholarship application.
  • Provide all necessary information and upload supporting documents (if required).
  • Finally, submit the application.

Step 4: Check the scholarship application status

  • After successful submission of the scholarship application, the candidates can check the status of their application by clicking on “Applied Schemes”.
  • If your application is under scrutiny, it will be visible under the head of “Under Scrutiny Applications”.
  • If your application is approved, it will be visible under the head of “Approved Applications”.
  • If your application is rejected, it will be visible under the head of “Rejected Applications”.

Maharashtra Scholarships – Offline Application

The offline application process involves you to follow the below given steps –

Step 1: Contact your respective scholarship providing department/ school/ college/ institution to avail the scholarship application form.

Step 2: Fill in all required details and attach all supporting documents.

Step 3: Submit the completed application in all respect to respective department/ institution/ school/ college.

Note: It is advisable to refer to individual scholarship application procedure (in case of an offline application) to have a clear idea.

Maharashtra Scholarships – Rewards

With an objective to encourage students with disability to pursue higher education, the Government of Maharashtra runs this post-matric scholarship. The students studying in Class 11 to post-graduation level are eligible to apply for this scholarship and can win up to INR 1200 per month.

Pre-Upper Primary and Pre-Secondary Scholarship, Maharashtra

For all the students of Maharashtra studying in Class 5 to 8, the government has introduced this scholarship. Rewarded on the basis of a competitive exam, the students are eligible to win a scholarship amount of up to INR 1500.

Post Matric Scholarship to OBC Students, Maharashtra

Introduced as an initiative to encourage OBC students to pursue post-matric courses, the Government of Maharashtra has announced Post Matric Scholarships. The students fulfilling the eligibility criteria can stand a chance to win a scholarship up to INR 425 per month. Maharashtra Scholarships for Post Matric Studies also provide for other community categories as well.

Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship to SC Students, Maharashtra

The students of Maharashtra, belonging to the SC category, can apply for this scholarship that has been introduced by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of Government of Maharashtra. The selected students under this scheme will receive a scholarship of INR 300 per month for 10 months.

Book Bank for SC Students, Maharashtra

If you are an SC student enrolling in Medical, Law, Engineering, Veterinary and Agriculture courses, you can avail this book grant that offers 1 set of books for the course you have applied and a scholarship up to INR 7,500. Maharashtra Scholarships have very less Book Benefit Programs, and as a result many students apply for this scholarship.

Award of Scholarship to Backward Class Students in High Schools, Maharashtra

To award the academic excellence of students belonging to the backward class and studying in class 5 to 10, the Government of Maharashtra runs this scholarship. The shortlisted students will receive a scholarship of up to INR 100 per month that comes to around INR 1000 per annum.
