- Students who have passed Class 12 in the preceding year of application can apply.
- The scholarship is available only to students pursuing a recognised undergraduate (UG) degree program specified by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Only students enrolled in the first year of a UG degree program in India are eligible.
- This scholarship is available only for a student’s first UG degree. Students who already hold a UG degree are not eligible.
- For ‘integrated’ or ‘dual degree’ programs, the scholarship will only apply to the UG portion of the course.
- Only students enrolled in a ‘Regular/Full-Time’ UG program are eligible.
- Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme. Reservation shall be followed as per the Government of India norms.

- Universities, colleges, or institutes recognised under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, and with valid NAAC accreditation.

Exclusions in Ishan Uday
A candidate will not be eligible for the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region if:
- A student is enrolled in courses offered by the Open Universities.
- Applicants already receiving financial aid under any other undergraduate scholarship scheme will not be considered.
- Those admitted through the management quota are not eligible to apply.
- The scholarship does not cover diplomas or similar programs that do not culminate in a degree.
- Candidates whose family income exceeds ₹4.5 lakh per annum and are pursuing non-degree courses like diplomas are also not eligible.

Ishan Uday Renewal Process

- The scholarship will be renewed each year as long as the student maintains good conduct and meets the required attendance.
- Renewal is subject to the submission of an annual progress report from the university/institution’s administrative head (e.g., the Registrar, Director, or Principal).
- Students must be promoted to the next class/level to retain the scholarship. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
