ePASS Karnataka – Important Dates, Eligibility Criteria, Benefits, and Application Process

ePASS Karnataka, also known as KARePASS is a dedicated electronic payment and application system of scholarships. Governed by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka, this portal looks after the online disbursement of post-matric and pre-matric scholarships to students who are the permanent residents of the state of Karnataka.

Scholarship Registration and Login

The application process for ePASS Karnataka is currently open. Students can submit their applications for the post-matric and Vidyasiri – food and accommodation scholarship by December 12, 2025. For the pre-matric scholarship the deadline is March 31, 2026. Applications submitted within the prescribed time period have a higher chance of being processed on time.

ePASS Karnataka – Key Features

In order to ease out the process of inviting applications for the scholarships and disbursing them, the ePASS Karnataka portal was created. The portal boasts of the following features that turn out to be useful for the users.

  • Provision to know your application number: The students, who do not remember their scholarship application number can search for it using this facility on the portal. They need to provide certain details like SSLC examination number, year of passing SSLC, SSLC pass type and date of birth.
  • Check the application status: This feature allows the users to track the real-time status of the scholarship application by providing details like application number, academic year, SSLC pass type, year of passing SSLC, SSLC registration number and date of birth.
  • Track hostel application status: Know the status of your hostel application online through this portal by providing your application number and date of birth.
  • Prathibha Acknowledgement: Download the acknowledgement receipt of Pratibha Puraskar Scholarship through this feature by either providing applicant reference number or other required details.

ePASS Karnataka – Eligibility Criteria

In order to avail the benefits of the available scholarship schemes under the ePASS Karnataka, students must fulfil certain eligibility requirements. The eligibility criteria for Vidyasiri – food and accommodation scholarship, pre-matric, post-matric and fee concession schemes are as follow:

Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • Students applying for this scholarship must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed more than ₹2.50 lakh from all sources.
  • The applying candidate should be studying in Classes 9 and 10 only in government schools on a full-time basis.
  • The student should belong to Backward Classes category – 1, 2A, 3A and 3B.
  • Students who’ve obtained A +, A and B + and B grades in the previous academic year are eligible for this scholarship.
  • The caste and income certificates of the student must be updated with the SATS number.

Post-Matric Scholarship

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
  • The student must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. 
  • Students pursuing post-matric courses in Government / Local Body / Aided Institutions / Recognized Unaided Private Institutions under the Statutory Universities of Karnataka are also eligible.
  • The gross annual income of the student’s family/guardian should not exceed ₹ 2.50 lakh for students belonging to category 1, and ₹1 Lakh for students belonging to category 2A, 3A and 3B.     
  • The applying candidate must have passed the previous year’s annual examination with minimum 60% marks for category 1 and 70% for category 2A, 3A, and 3B.
  • Only two sons of the same family are eligible for this scheme. However, this rule does not apply to girls.

Vidyasiri – Food and Accommodation Scholarship

  • The student must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
  • The student must belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
  • Students pursuing any of the post-matric courses from a government / government-aided / local body / unaided recognised private institutions under Karnataka Statutory Universities are eligible to apply for this scheme.
  • The gross annual income of the student’s family/guardian should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh for students belonging to category 1, and ₹1 lakh for students belonging to category 2A, 3A and 3B.
  • The student must be from rural areas, and their place of residence should be at least 5 km away from their college. Moreover, for students whose college is in a city/town other than their native city/town, such students are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The student must have scored at least 55% (for students belonging to category 1) or 65% (for students belonging to category 2A, 3A, 3B) in their previous year’s annual examination.
  • Only two sons of the same family are eligible for this scholarship scheme. This restriction is not for girl children.

Fee Concession

  • The student must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.
  • Post-Matric students of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare are eligible for fee reimbursement or to be a beneficiary under any one of the Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship Programmes.
  • Students of Government Quota studying in regular post-matric courses in Government / Local Body / Aided Institutions / Recognized Unaided Private Local Bodies under Statutory Universities / Deemed Universities in the State of Karnataka are eligible for fee reimbursement.
  • The gross annual income of the student’s family/guardian should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh for students belonging to category 1, and ₹1 lakh for students belonging to category 2A, 3A and 3B.
  • The students must have secured minimum 50% marks (for Class 1 and Blind students) in the annual examination held in the previous year, or 60% marks (for Other Backward Classes). 
  • Only two sons of the same family are eligible for this scholarship scheme. This restriction is not for girl children.

  • Laboratory Fee (Only for courses where laboratory is mandatory)
  • The cost of the test
  • Sports Fees

For first time users, before applying for the scholarship you need to create an account first, then login to your SSP student account in order to apply for the ePASS Karnataka Scholarship.

How to Create a New Account?

Step 1: Visit the official website for the scholarship https://ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/.

Step 2: Click on the “Click Here to Create New Account”.

Step 3: Enter your Student Aadhaar Number and click “Proceed”.

Step 4: Enter your name as per your Aadhaar, and Aadhaar number again to proceed.

Step 5: Fill in the relevant details like your gender, email-id, and registered mobile number.

Step 6: This completes your registration. Your account will be created and you will receive your User ID on the registered mobile number that you’ve registered.

How to Apply for the Scholarship?

Step 1: Visit the official website for the scholarship and click on the ‘Online application’.

Step 2: Scroll down the list and click on the available scheme.

Step 3: Go to the ‘Click here to apply’ option.

Step 4: Depending on which scholarship you want to opt for pre-matric or post-matric, click on the relevant login button. 

Step 5: You will be redirected to the login page. Enter your User-ID, Password and enter the captcha for logging in.

Step 6: Read the instructions properly and step-wise proceed ahead. Fill the necessary details (Study/Caste/Personal Details/College Details/E-Attestation Details/ Hostel Details) and submit your application.

Step 7: After completion, take a printout of the filled application form.
