HP Scholarship – Scholarships for students of Himachal Pradesh

HP Scholarship aims at providing financial aid to students who are a domicile of Himachal Pradesh. The state is home to many educational institutions that include five universities, two medical colleges, four dental colleges and two engineering colleges. Adding to this, the state has implemented several HP scholarship schemes for a progressive future of the students. These schemes have been specifically developed for students who are economically backward and need financial assistance for a literate future. HP Scholarship – The Complete List

There are more than 25 scholarships available to students under varied conditions and requirements. The state government has been actively working on providing easy access to HP scholarship to the deserving students. The students are open to a broad gamut of scholarships that can be categorized under state-sponsored, central sponsored and technical scholarship. The various schemes sponsored under the state and central authorities have elaborately been listed below along with their application period and provider details.

HP Scholarship- Eligibility Criteria

All these scholarships have certain limitations and conditions for students to be eligible for them. The eligibility criteria for these numerous scholarships are different depending on the financial status and social status of students with the exception that the student ought to be a bona fide studying within the state or outside the state, within India having a valid AADHAR (UID/EID) credentials. The criteria have been mentioned below precisely for each and every HP scholarship mentioned.

4. Thakur Sen Negi Utkrisht Chattervriti Yojana Tribal Community of Himachal Pradesh
  • The student should be either amongst top 100 girls or top 100 boys belonging to the Tribal Community of HP, declared in the result of Matric examination conducted by the HP Board of School Education.
5. Kalpana Chawala Chattervriti Yojana For All
  • The scholarship is open for girl students.
  • The applicant should be amongst the top 2000 students of 10+2 in the merit list supplied by the HP Board of School Education.
6. Mukhiya Mantri Protsahan Yojana (One-time Incentive) For All
  • The student should be selected and must have taken admission for a degree course in any of the colleges mentioned below:
    • Indian Institute of Technology (IITs)
    • All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMSs)
    • Indian School of Mines (ISM)- Dhanbad at Jharkhand
    • Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore
    • PG Diploma course in any Indian Institute of Management (IIMs).
7. Maharshi Balmiki Chattervriti Yojana For All
  • The scholarship is open for girls.
  • The student should belong to a Balmiki family, engaged in an unclean occupation, studying in matric to college level
8. IRDP Scholarship Scheme For All
  • The applicant should be a student studying between 9th standard to University level.
  • The student should belong to an IRDP family.
9. Sainik School Sujanpur Tihara Scholarship For All
  • The applicant should be a student of Sainik School Sujanpur Tihara
  • The applicant should be a student from class 6 to 12
10. Rashtriya Indian Military College Scholarship (Only for RIMC Dehradun) For All

15. Lahaul Spiti Pattern For All
  • The applicant should belong to the Tribal community living in a tribal area of Himachal Pradesh
16. Girls Attendance Scholarship For All
  • The applicant should be a girl studying in a recognised school.
  • The attendance of the student should be more than 90% for 10 months

3. Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students (1st to 10th) CSS Other Backward Classes
  • The applicant should be a student in class 1st to 10th studying in any Govt./ Recognized school.
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed 2.5 Lakhs per annum
4. Post-Matric Scholarship to SC/ST/OBC Students (CSS) SC/ST
  • The students should be pursuing their studies in Govt./ Govt. Aided/ recognized/ private institutions
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh.
5. Post-Matric Scholarship to OBC Students (CSS) Other Backward Classes
  • The scholarship is open for students studying at post-matriculation level.
  • The annual family income of the student including his, should not be more than INR 1.5 Lakh per annum.
  • Employed students are also eligible to apply.
6. Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Classes (EBC) General
  • The annual family income of the student (including his, if employed) should not exceed INR 1 Lakh per annum
7. Upgradation of Merit of SC/ST Students (CSS) (Only for GSSS Bharmour, Chamba) SC/ST
  • The student should be studying in Bharmour, Chamba.
  • The student should be admitted in class 9th at the GSSS Bharmour, Chamba on the basis of merit list of middle standard examinations.
8. Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Students belonging to Minority Community (CSS) Minority Groups
  • The student should belong to a Minority Group (Muslim/ Sikh/ Christian/ Buddhist).
  • The student should be pursuing a degree/ post-graduate level technical professional course from a recognized institution.
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh per annum
  • The student must have secured at least 50% marks in the last qualifying examinations.
9. Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme to Students belonging to Minority Community Minority Groups
  • The student should belong to a Minority Group (Muslim/ Sikh/ Christian/ Buddhist).
  • They must be studying in class 12th to PhD level of education at Govt. / recognized schools/ colleges/ institutes, including technical/ vocational courses
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 2 Lakh per annum.
  • The student must have secured at least 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
10. Maulana Azad National Scholarship Scheme for Meritorious girl students belonging to Minorities Minority Groups
  • The student should be a girl belonging to a Minority Group (Muslim/ Sikh/ Christian/ Buddhist/ Jain/ Parsi)
  • They must be studying in class 12th to Ph.D. level of education at Govt. / recognized schools/ colleges/ institutes, including technical/ vocational courses
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 1 Lakh per annum.
  • The student must have secured at least 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
11. National Means Cum Merit Scholarships For All
  • The student should belong to an economically weaker section with an annual family income not exceeding INR 1.5 Lakh per annum
  • The applicant should be a student of lower than 8th standard and must have dropped out of further studies.
12. Scholarship to Disabled Students For All
  • Trust Fund- The student should have a disability and should be pursuing a degree or PG level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions
  • National Fund- The student should have a disability and should be pursuing post matric professional and technical courses of more than one-year duration.
  • Post Matric or Pre-Matric- The student should have a disability and must be of either post matric or pre-matric education level.
13. Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric Scholarship for DNTs (CSS) Denotified, Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic Tribes
  • The student should belong to DNT category pursuing pre-matric level of education
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 2 Lakh per annum
14. Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for DNTs (CSS) Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes
  • The student should belong to DNT category pursuing post matric level of education.
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 2 Lakh per annum

Technical Education HP Scholarship Schemes:

  • The student must have scored at least 60% marks in the last qualifying examinations.
  • They must be pursuing a P.G. Course / Degree Courses in Engineering / Technology including Architecture or any other equivalent course approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 3.6 Lakh per annum
2. Scholarships for Diploma Courses For All
  • The student should belong to a financially backward background and be a bona fide of Himachal Pradesh or ward of HP Government employees.
  • The student must have scored at least 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • They must be pursuing Diploma level courses in Engineering / Technology including Architecture or any other equivalent course approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
  • The annual family income of the student should not exceed INR 36,000 per annum
3. Scholarships for ITI Students For All
  • The scholarship is applicable for ITI students.

HP Scholarship – How to Apply

Each HP scholarship invites applications from students of different background in order to promote education in the state.  The newly implemented HP ePass scholarship portal makes it easy and efficient for the students to apply for these scholarships. However, the applications for most of the centrally-sponsored and state-sponsored scholarships are now invited through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Here is a step by step application procedure on how to apply for an HP scholarship with ease through HP ePass Scholarship Portal and National Scholarship Portal.

HP Scholarship Application through HP ePass Portal

Step 1: Visit the HP ePass Scholarship Portal

  • Visit the Himachal Pradesh ePass Scholarship Portal
  • The list of Scholarship Schemes can be referenced by clicking on ‘Schemes Offered’

Step 2: Register

  • Click on ‘Student login’ in order to register yourself.
  • The User Id and Password will be provided through the specified phone number and email id of the student.

Note- Keep the User ID and Password safe, the same shall be used to track further progress of the scholarship application.

  • If you’re a new student click on New Student Registration and you will be redirected to the following page
  • If you do not have an Aadhar card click on ‘No’ and provide the Electronic Identification as ID proof and complete the registration

Step 3: Attach the required documents

Once you have completed the registration by providing valid and important details carefully, attach all the necessary documents required in the HP Scholarship application. Make sure to be conscious of all the documents being authentic and valid, they will be verified before the registration is confirmed and any or all invalid data provided will be rejected immediately.

The applicant will be required to fill in the following details in the application form:

(e) Bank Details
(f) Certificates Details

Step 4: Submit your application

Prior to submitting the application form, make sure to re-check it in case of any accidental form of discrepancy processed through the information. The student can edit/ update or fill his form in parts, then take a printout of Online Application Form, and submit the same along with the scheme-specific document(s) to the respective institution, within the stipulated time as mentioned in the schedule

The progress of the application can be constantly tracked by logging in the HP Epass Scholarship Portal through the same ID and password provided to you at the time of registration.
After successful submission of the Online Application Form, it would be automatically forwarded to the Institute selected by the student for verification.

Note- If in case any error is detected by the student in their application form, they will have to separately inform the mistakes detected by them to the Institute/District/Region/State. The software provides the facility at the level of the Institute & State to edit& correct limited information.

HP Scholarship Application through National Scholarship Portal

The steps to be followed for application on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) are given below.

Step 1: Visit the official website of NSP.

Step 2: Check if your institution is listed on the portal or not by clicking on ‘Search for Institute’ button. If your institution is not registered, request them to register on the portal first.

Step 3: If your institution is registered, click on the ‘New Registration’ button and read all the guidelines carefully.

Step 4: Fill in all required details and register. You will receive an application ID and password on your registered mobile number.

Step 5: Make a login using the application ID and password and change the password as per your convenience.

Step 6: Once you enter the dashboard, click on the ‘Application Form’ to start the application.

Step 7: Fill in all required details in the application form and upload all relevant documents (as required).

Step 8: Finally, submit the application.

HP Scholarship- Documents Required

The basic requirement to be eligible for the HP scholarship is to be bonafide of Himachal Pradesh and further information alters depending on the scholarship scheme chosen by the student. A generic list of documents that a student needs to provide in support of his/her application has been mentioned below. The requirements might change along with the changing the selected scheme.

  • A passport size photo
  • Birth certificate
  • Aadhar card number
  • Mark sheet of the last qualifying examinations
  • Bank Statement of the Student’s Current Bank Account
  • Caste certificate, tribal certificate (if applicable)
  • Income certificate issued by the competent authority
  • Receipts and fee structure of the university (if applicable)

HP Scholarship- Awards

The HP scholarship has been specifically created to assist students who belong to financially challenging backgrounds or are either from a minority group or reserved categories with limited means. These have also been implemented for disabled students. All of these schemes have a primary motive to empower education and motivate meritorious students to acquire a proper education and have an accomplished future. The rewards accredited with each of the schemes have been carefully listed below.

State-Sponsored HP Scholarship Scheme:

5. Kalpana Chawala Chattervriti Yojana The eligible students will receive a scholarship of INR 15,000 per student per annum, based on a passing ratio in each group as per the merit list supplied by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala.
6. Mukhiya Mantri Protsahan Yojana The qualified student will receive a one-time incentive of INR 70,000
7. Maharshi Balmiki Chattervriti Yojana The eligible girl students will receive a scholarship of INR 9,000 per annum
8. IRDP Scholarship Scheme Variable financial awards

10. Rashtriya Indian Military College Scholarship (Only for RIMC Dehradun) The qualified students will receive a scholarship worth INR 20,000 per annum

13. Mukhya Mantri Gyandeep Yojana Under this scheme, interest subsidy is admissible from any Bank on education loan availed up to the maximum of INR 10 Lakh.

Only interest subsidy to the extent of 4% p.a. on education loan will be allowed.

14. Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chattervriti Yojana for Post plus two Students The rate of the scholarship awarded will be INR 10,000 per annum per student.
15. Lahaul Spiti Pattern This scheme by the tribal department awards INR 80 in tribal areas per student
16. Girls Attendance Scholarship The girls holding an attendance of more than 90% are eligible to receive INR 2 per month for 10 months
