MahaDBT Login 2026 – Forgotten Username or Password

1. On the login page, click ‘Forgot Username’ or ‘Forgot Password’.

2. For username recovery: enter your full name (as per your profile), mobile number, and date of birth.

3. For password recovery: enter your username, verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number, then set and confirm a new password.

If your mobile number itself has changed since you last registered, you’ll usually need to update it via UIDAI first, since OTP-based recovery depends on your Aadhaar-linked number.

Common Reasons MahaDBT Applications Get Rejected

A few patterns show up repeatedly, migration or not:

1. Mismatched income figures — the income certificate must match exactly what’s entered in the form, down to the financial year mentioned.

2. Blurry or non-compliant photo/signature uploads — even with fewer fields overall, image specifications (file size, dimensions, background) are still strictly enforced.

3. Applying under the wrong department or scheme category – a scheme built for one course type won’t accept applicants from an unrelated stream.

4. Missing CAP allotment documentation for professional courses admitted through centralised counselling.

5. Two-year academic gaps during the qualifying course, which disqualify many otherwise-eligible applicants.

FAQs: MahaDBT Login 2026

Q1. I already have a MahaDBT account from last year. Do I need to create a new one on MahaDBT?

In many cases, yes. Since MahaDBT runs on a rebuilt backend, several returning applicants are finding their old credentials don’t carry over automatically. If your existing login doesn’t work, register fresh on mahadbt2.maharashtra.gov.in rather than repeatedly retrying old credentials.

Q2. Will my previous years’ scholarship application history be visible on the new portal?

Not necessarily, at least not immediately. The government’s own migration notice states that application history may be temporarily inaccessible during the transition. If you need proof of a past application for reference, it’s worth downloading or screenshotting any confirmation you still have access to before the full switch completes.

Q3. My scheme isn’t one of the four explicitly named in the migration notice – do I still need to switch to MahaDBT?

It’s safest to check directly on the new portal first. Several other department-specific schemes are being folded into MahaDBT as well, even where they weren’t individually named in the initial notice, so treat the new portal as your default starting point rather than assuming your scheme is exempt.

Q4. Why is my application form asking for fewer documents than I remember uploading last year?

This is intentional, not a glitch. MahaDBT auto-fetches several fields directly from Aadhaar and CET Cell databases, which is part of the reduction from over 130 form fields to roughly 65. Double-check that the auto-fetched details are accurate, since you’re now relying on government records rather than your own manual entry.

Q5. Can I still apply if I don’t have an Aadhaar number?

Yes. MahaDBT retains a non-Aadhaar registration pathway, though it requires more manual document verification such as identity, address, and birth proof, compared to the Aadhaar-linked route.
