SSP scholarship is an umbrella term for the scholarships offered by the Government of Karnataka for its domicile students on its State Scholarship Portal (SSP).  It is a dedicated online platform run by the Government of Karnataka to ensure effective implementation of a number of pre-matric and post-matric scholarships offered by different government departments. The key objective of this scholarship is to financially support those meritorious students who face financial difficulties in pursuing their education irrespective of their caste, category or gender.

SSP Scholarship 2023 – About the Portal

SSP – State Scholarship Portal has been introduced by the Government of Karnataka with an objective to ensure smooth and effective implementation as well as disbursement of scholarships offered by its different departments. It ensures transparency in the application submitted and documents uploaded by the student. Furthermore, the scholarship funds under various departments are disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the beneficiaries’ accounts. The key departments that host their scholarships on the SSP scholarship portal include –

There are 7 departments of the Government of Karnataka that offer scholarships to the students from different sections of the society. Some of the departments include Social Welfare Department, Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board Scheme, Tribal Welfare Department, and more. Note: The last date of submission will be extended for all the students whose data hasn’t been shared yet by the respective universities with SSP Cell. Hence, the authorities have requested all first-year students to wait till the admission process is completed by the universities for applying for the SSP scholarship.

SSP Scholarship 2023 – Eligibility Criteria

One of the major eligibility conditions that apply to all scholarships offered on the SSP scholarship portal is that the applicant should be a domicile of Karnataka. Besides this, there are other conditions as well that an applicant needs to fulfill to apply for a SSP scholarship. The given below table will provide you detailed information about the same.
Post-matric Scholarship for SC Students

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka
  • Student must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination
  • Student’s annual family income should be INR 2.5 lakh or less

Post-matric Scholarship for ST Students

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka
  • Student must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination
  • Student’s annual family income should be INR 2.5 lakh or less

Vidyasiri Scholarship

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka and belong to SC/ST or Minority community
  • Student must have 75% attendance in the academic year
  • For SC/ST, family’s annual income must be INR 2 lakh or less
  • For OBC, family’s annual income must be INR 1 lakh or less

Post-matric Scholarship for Backward Classes Students

  • Students must be  domiciles of Karnataka and belong to Backward Classes category
  • They must be pursuing studies at post-matriculation level
  • They must have scored at least 50% marks (for category 1) and 60% marks (for category 2A, 3A and 3B) in the previous examination
  • Annual family income must be less than INR 2.5 lakh

Fee Reimbursement for Backward Classes Students

Buddy4Study - Education Loan

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka belonging to backward classes
  • Student must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination
  • Student’s annual family income should be INR 2 lakh or less

Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities 

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka 
  • Student must be studying in Class 11,12, graduate, postgraduate, technical or vocational courses, M.Phil or PhD
  • Student must have scored at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination
  • Student’s annual income should not be more than INR 2.5 lakh from all the sources
  • Student must belong to the minority community (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrian/Parsi)

Merit cum Means Scholarship

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka
  • Student should be of Class 9
  • Students must have scored 55% or equivalent marks in Class 8 (relaxation by 5% for SC/ST students)
  • Family’s income must be less than INR 2.5 lakhs from all sources

Fee Reimbursement for Engineering and Diploma Engineering SC/ST Students

  • Student should be a domicile of Karnataka
  • Student’s annual family income should be between INR 2.5 lakh to 10 lakh
  • Defence Scholarship: ST/SC student’s parents must be in Army/Navy/Airforce or working as JCO/NCO/ Lower rank

Fee Reimbursement for SC/ST Medical Students

  • Student should be a domicile of Karnataka
  • Student’s annual family income must be between INR 2.5 lakh to 10 lakh

Post-matric Scholarship for Karnataka State Brahmin

  • Student must be a domicile of Karnataka and belong to a Brahmin community
  • Student’s family income should be INR 8 lakh or less
  • Student must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination

SSP Scholarship 2023 – List of Required Documents

The application for the SSP scholarship remains incomplete if the applicants’ do not upload the required documents in support of their application. The applicants who are willing to apply for any scholarship on the SSP scholarship portal will require the listed below documents – 

  • Students SATs ID/ College
  • Registration Number
  • Student’s Mobile Number
  • Income Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • e-Attestation Numbers
  • Aadhaar Number of Student and Parents
  • Eligible Fee Receipt
  • Bonafide Certificate
  • SSLC/ 10th Marks Card
  • PUC Registration Number (first-year degree courses)
  • Marks Card of the previous year
  • Study Certificate
  • Disability Card Number issued by GOI for differently-abled students.
  • EWS Certificate (Applicable for only Brahmin category students) number in the student’s name starting with RD
  • Recent Salary Slip/ Certificate (In case of Students Parents working in State/Central Government)

SSP Scholarship 2023 – How to Apply?

Applications for all types of SSP scholarships can be made online through the SSP portal only. Applicants can follow the steps given below to apply for any of the scholarships mentioned above – 

Step 1 – Creating an Account

Step 1: Visit the official website of the State Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: Click on the link given to apply for the “Post-Matric Scholarship for FY 2022-23.

Step 3: Now click on “Create Account”.

Step 4: Fill in the mandatory fields, tick on the consent, and click on the “Proceed” button.

Step 5: After this step, the applicants’ Aadhaar will be seeded with their bank account. Now, enter email ID, mobile number, OTP and click on the “Submit” button. 

Step 6: Now enter the certificate’s details and click on the “Proceed” button. 

Note: After clicking on the proceed button, the applicants’ will be asked to check their name on the certificates. If it is correct then the applicants’ will be directed to the next page. 

Step 7: If the applicants’ have a ration card then tick on yes and enter their ration card number or else they need to apply for a ration card to proceed with the process.

Step 8: After entering the ration card number, a list of family members will appear. Select the name of the applicant from the list and click on the “Check” button to proceed.

Step 9: Now, create a password and click on the “Submit” button.

Note: There should be no special character in the password.

Student Login:

Step 1: Visit the official website of the SSP scholarship.

Step 2: Click on the “Student Login” button on the dashboard.

Step 3: Enter Username, password, and captcha to Login.

Note: In case,  you  do not remember your student ID or password, you can easily retrieve them by clicking on “Forget Password” or “Know your Student ID” button.

Step 4: Once logged in, proceed to complete the scholarship application. Fill in all required details in the application. 

Step 5: Upload all relevant documents and submit the application. 

SSP Scholarship 2023 – e-Attestation of Documents

To apply for a scholarship on the SSP scholarship portal, an applicant needs to get the documents e-Attested by the College e-Attestation officer. By following the listed below steps, an applicant can easily get their documents attested online – 

Step 1: Click on the official website of the SSP scholarship.

Step 2: Now scroll down the homepage and click on “Click here for e-authentication portal (Students)”.

Step 3: A new window will open, enter the Aadhaar number, captcha, tick on the consent, and click on the “Verify” button.

Step 4: The applicants will be directed to the student profile page. Enter the details such as college name, university name, course, etc., and upload the documents.

Step 5: Now, click on the “Aadhaar Consent” form, fill it and download the form.

Step 6: Visit the e-Attestation officer of your college with the form and original documents to get them attested. 

Step 7: Once the documents will be e-Attested by the officer, they will reflect under the Approved documents section.
