National Scholarship Portal registration might seem a tedious task for most of the students as any incorrect information or discrepancy can lead to the rejection of the application. Every year, thousands of scholarship applications get rejected due to the errors that students make while registering. Being the initial step for the scholarship application, the National Scholarship Portal registration requires the student to be careful and attentive towards what they are filling.  Most of the inquiries made by the students are related to scholarship registration, application process and documentation required.

Hosting over 70+ scholarship schemes, the National Scholarship Portal adopts a simple and convenient application process for all the scholarships. National Scholarship Portal Registration- Stepwise Description

The National Scholarship Portal registration involves the students to provide basic information like the state of domicile, scholarship category, the name of the student, date of birth, bank details, identification details (either Aadhaar number or bank account number), etc. Once you know what are the scholarships available and their deadlines, you can head on to register yourself on the portal. Given below is a step-wise description of national scholarship portal registration and application to make the process easy for you.

Registration

  • Visit the National Scholarship Portal.
  • Click on ‘New Registration’ to register.
  • Read all the guidelines carefully and click on ‘Continue’.
  • Fill in all required details.
  • Click on ‘Register’ button.
  • The candidates will receive the student application  ID and the password on their registered mobile number (Note: keep it safe for future references).

Application

  • Once you are successfully registered, you need to click on the ‘Login’ button to start the scholarship application.
  • Enter your application ID and password to log in.
  • You will get an OTP on the registered mobile number.
  • Verify the OTP and proceed to change the password.
  • Once you have changed the password, you will be directed towards the student dashboard.
  • Click on the ‘Application Form’ button to start the application.
  • Provide registration, academic and basic details and click on “save” and “continue”.
  • You need to add a contact, scheme details and upload the required documents.
  • Finally, submit the application by clicking the “Submit” button.

National Scholarship Portal Registration – Documents Required

The list of documents to be uploaded by the students for each scholarship may vary. However, some of the common documents that a student should keep in hand during National Scholarship Portal registration for both fresh & renewal scholarships are as under:

  • Student Photo (Mandatory)
  • Institution Verification Form (Mandatory)
  • Income Certificate: Income Certificate issued by the Competent
  • Authority in the State/UT Government is required (Mandatory)
  • Declaration of the Student (Mandatory)
  • Religion Certificate: Self Declaration/Certification or Self Attested
  • Community Certificate (Mandatory)
  • Marksheet: In case of Fresh: Self-Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Qualifying Exam /Board Marksheet’ as filled in the Form (Mandatory)
  • In case of Renewal: Self-Attested Certificate of Previous Year/Last exam passed Marksheet (for the same/ongoing course) as filled in the Form (Mandatory)
  • Fee Receipt of Current Course Year (Mandatory)
  • Proof of Bank Account in the name of Student (Mandatory)
  • Aadhaar Card (Optional)
  • Residential/Domicile Certificate (Mandatory)

National Scholarship Portal Registration – Key Statistics

For the year 2019-20, the NSP has received 119.78 lakh applications, out of which 91.33 lakh applications have been verified. The Government has disbursed INR 2646.47 crores on over 70+ scholarship schemes across the country. National Scholarship Portal Registration- FAQ

What is the UID number/Aadhaar number?

UID also otherwise known as Aadhaar number is the Unique Identification Number given by UIDAI. It is required to be seeded with a bank account in which the scholarship amount is desired to be transferred. Also the students need to provide the UID number at the time of national scholarship portal registration.

Is it possible to edit the information already saved?

Yes, it is possible to edit all details except personal details while registering on NSP. However, once the application is finally submitted, it cant be edited further.

What should a student do if he/she forgets his/her Application ID?

The process of recollection of temporary/permanent ID is to visit the student's login page and click on forgot registration details. Thereafter, the students need to enter the basic fields and click on Get registration details.

What should a student do, if he/she does not find his/her institute name in the drop-down menu?

The applicant should immediately approach the institute to contact the nodal officer of the State in which the institute is located. If the institute is eligible, the State Government would enter it into the database and then the applicant will be able to apply.

How should a student check the status of his/her application online?

The applicant can go to the login page and choose Student login to enter the user dashboard. Then, he/she can click on Check your status button to check the application status.
