Jagadish Bose Scholarship 2026: Junior Talent Scholarship

JBNSTS initiated the Junior Talent Scholarship Test (JTST) in 2015 for West Bengal students having passed their Class 10 or equivalent examinations. The objective of this test is to identify, nurture and motivate talented students to achieve their scientific goals and develop their innovative minds.

Alongside JTST, Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti (JBKMB) was initiated in 2020 specifically for female students with the same academic qualifications. This program is supported by the Department of Science and Technology & Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal and targets gender equality ensuring fair opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants must be Indian nationals domiciled in West Bengal, including following states:

Assam Arunachal Pradesh
Meghalaya Manipur
Mizoram Nagaland
Tripura Sikkim
Bihar Odisha
Jharkhand Chhattisgarh

2. Applicants should have passed the Class 10 examination in the academic year just before the scholarship year or later with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate subjects.

3. They should be currently enrolled in Class 11 (science stream) in a recognised school/institute of West Bengal, including other states, during the academic year of the scholarship.

4. They must have chosen at least three of the following subjects:

Physics Chemistry
Mathematics Biology
Statistics Computer Science

Benefits

  • ₹1,250 per month for two years, i.e. till the completion of Class 12. This is applicable both for JTST and JBKMB.
  • ₹2,500 per annum as a book grant and exposure to seminars and workshops designed for young scholars. (JBKMB only)

Jagadish Bose Scholarship 2026: Senior Talent Scholarship

The JBNSTS Senior Scholarship Test Program (STST), established in 1958, originally functioned as a simple scholarship scheme. However, since then it has evolved into a comprehensive educational framework aimed at fostering the creativity of science students. Through systematic research into the educational needs of gifted individuals, the program supports the development of undergraduate students in Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in accredited institutions located in West Bengal. Its primary goal is to nurture scientific talent and meet the nation’s demand for skilled professionals in science and technology.

Alongside STST, Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti (SBKMB) was initiated under the financial support of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of West Bengal. This program is aimed at encouraging female students of the state to pursue higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants must be Indian nationals and domiciled in the following states including West Bengal:

Assam Arunachal Pradesh
Meghalaya Manipur

Bihar Odisha
Jharkhand Chattisgarh

2. Applicants must have passed the higher senior secondary or equivalent examination in the current scholarship year.

3. They should be enrolled in an undergraduate program in B.Sc. (Honours), Engineering, or Medicine in any of the registered institutions in West Bengal.

(Note: Students who have passed the qualifying exam before 2024 or are enrolled in a B.Sc. Pass course, Diploma course, or B.Sc. Nursing programs are ineligible to apply for these programs.)

Benefits

1. A monthly scholarship of ₹4,000 and an annual book grant of ₹5,000 for 4/5 years till completion of B.Tech./B.E./MBBS/BS-MS./M.Sc. degree. This is applicable for STST and SBKMB, both.

2. For SBKMB only:

  • Students pursuing a Master’s degree in Basic Sciences are eligible for a research grant of ₹80,000 per year (₹60,000 + ₹20,000), following DST INSPIRE norms and regulations set by the Government of India
