FAQ’s

Which engineering and technology courses are covered under the Bharti Airtel Scholarship 2026-27?

The scholarship is open to students studying Electronics and Communication, Telecom, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace, and new-age technology fields like Artificial Intelligence, IoT, AR/VR, Machine Learning, and Robotics — at the undergraduate or 5-year integrated course level.

What does it mean to be a Bharti Scholar?

Students selected under this scholarship are called Bharti Scholars. Along with full financial support and a laptop in their first year, Bharti Scholars are expected to give back — by voluntarily helping fund the education of at least one student throughout their lifetime, once they graduate and start working.

What income documents do I need to apply?

If your parent or guardian is salaried or self-employed, you will need to submit their latest Income Tax Return (ITR) form (the complete form, not just the acknowledgement) and a bank statement from the last 6 months. If they have no taxable income or are not employed, a government-issued income certificate along with a 6-month bank statement is required.

Does the scholarship give extra consideration to any group of students?

Yes. While any eligible student can apply, preference is given to girl students, students with disabilities, students from single-parent or orphaned families, and transgender students.

How do I check if my college is in the top 50 NIRF Engineering list?

You can check the official NIRF website to see the 2025 Engineering rankings. The scholarship is valid only for institutes that appear in the top 50 on that list. If your institute drops out of the top 50 in a later year, your scholarship will not be affected — it will continue as long as you meet the renewal conditions.

Are there any college expenses that this scholarship does not cover?

Yes. The scholarship does not cover fees like counselling (JOSAA) charges, library fees, refundable security deposits, internet charges, laundry, breakage, or other miscellaneous charges raised by the college during the year. These will need to be paid by the student.

Do I need to write a Statement of Purpose (SOP) to apply?

Yes, submitting an SOP is a required part of the application. It is reviewed during shortlisting and interviews, so it is important to write it carefully and honestly.

What happens if the information I submit in my application turns out to be wrong?

If any information provided by you or your parents is found to be false, your application will be rejected. If this is discovered after the scholarship has already been given, the scholarship will be cancelled and the full amount paid so far — including the laptop — will need to be returned to Bharti Airtel Foundation.
