About The Program

Pre-Matric SC Scholarship Class 9 and 10, Tripura 2024 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, for SC community students of the state who are studying in Class 9 and 10. Selected candidates will be granted a scholarship of up to ₹525 per month for 10 months, along with additional grants.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • be domiciled in Tripura
  • belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community of the state
  • be a regular, full-time student of Class 9 or 10, studying in a government school or a school recognised by the government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education
  • have an annual family income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

 

Note:- Applicants must not be receiving any other centrally funded scholarship. However, beneficiaries of this scholarship may also avail themselves of the National Means-cum-Merit scholarship scheme offered by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

Benefits

Eligible students will receive the following awards:-

The "Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage" (IEDSS) scheme, administered by the Ministry of Education (MHRD), provides financial aid to students with disabilities attending secondary-level government, government-aided, and local body schools. This assistance falls under the scheme's "Student Oriented Component" and is designed to support the education of these students at the post-matric level.

However, students in unaided schools are not eligible for the "Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage" (IEDSS) scheme.

Therefore, SC students with disabilities, studying in Classes 9 and 10 in private, unaided recognized schools, will be eligible for allowances as follows:

Allowances for students with disabilities studying in private unaided schools Amount (In ₹ per month)
Reader allowance for blind students 160
Transport allowance for students with disabilities (as defined in the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995), if such students do not reside in the hostel which is within the premises of the educational institution 160
Escort allowance for severely disabled (i.e. with 80% or higher disability) Day Scholars/Students with low extremity disability 160
Helper allowance is admissible to any of the hostels willing to extend help to a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel of an educational institution who may need the assistance of a helper 160
Coaching allowance to mentally retarded and mentally ill students 240

 

Note:- The disability as defined under the Persons with Disabilities (equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act, 1995) Act has to be certified by competent medical authority of the State Govt./UT Administration.

Documents
  • A passport-sized photograph
  • One attested copy of academic transcripts, including degrees, certificates, etc.
  • A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
  • An income declaration by the self-employed parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • A receipt acknowledging the scholarship from the previous year (if applicable)
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

  • The scholarship is contingent upon the student's satisfactory progress and conduct. If the Head of the Institution/School reports at any time that a student has, due to their own actions, failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or participating in strikes, irregular attendance without the permission of the relevant authorities, etc., the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel the scholarship or stop or withhold further payments for such a period as it deems appropriate. 
  • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship through false statements, their scholarship will be immediately canceled, and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered at the discretion of the concerned State Government/UT Administration. The student will be blacklisted and barred from receiving scholarships under any scheme in the future.  
  • A student is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the State Government/UT Administration if, during the year, they discontinue their studies for which the scholarship was awarded.
  • The provisions of this scheme may be changed at any time at the discretion of the Government of India.
