About The Program

PM YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC/EBC/DNT Students - Chandigarh 2024-25 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India for OBC, EBC, and DNT students in Classes 9 and 10. The scheme aims to motivate students and provide financial support to help them complete their pre-matriculation or secondary education. Selected students will receive a consolidated academic allowance of ₹4,000 per annum.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian citizen
  • be a domicile of Chandigarh
  • belong to the Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), or De-Notified Tribes (DNT) category
  • be studying in Class 9 or 10 in a government-recognised school
  • have an annual parental/guardian income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources
  • not be receiving benefits under any other scholarship scheme for studies in Class 9 or 10

Note:- If students are receiving benefits under any other scholarship for Classes 9 or 10, they must choose one scholarship. They should inform both the awarding authority of the other scholarship and the school principal of their decision.

Selected students will receive a consolidated academic allowance of ₹4,000 per annum.

  • Marksheets/certificates of the previous qualifying examination
  • Caste certificate issued by a government officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar (if applicable)
  • Income certificate of parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by an officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar
  • First page of the student's bank account passbook
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form.  Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

  • If a student violates school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship, the scholarship may be suspended or cancelled at the discretion of the competent school authority. The State Government/Union Territory Administration may also directly cancel the award if there is sufficient evidence of a violation of these regulations.   
  • Migration of students from one institution to another is generally not permitted during the academic year, except in exceptional circumstances that benefit the student's academic progress.
  • A scholar receiving benefits under this scheme is ineligible for any other pre-matric scholarship scheme.
  • Only two boys from the same family (parent(s)/guardian) are eligible for scholarships. This restriction does not apply to girls. Consequently, scholarships awarded to females from the same family will not affect the eligibility of up to two boys from the same family.
  • A minimum attendance record of 75% in the previous year is required to qualify for the scholarship.
  • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship through false statements, their scholarship will be immediately cancelled, and the amount already paid will be recovered at the discretion of the concerned State Government. The student will be blacklisted and permanently ineligible for any scholarship scheme.
  • The provisions of this scheme may be changed at any time at the discretion of the Government of India.
