Question: What is the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme?
Answer: It is a central government scholarship aimed at supporting students from Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Neo-Buddhist communities in Maharashtra to pursue post-secondary education by providing financial assistance, including maintenance allowance, tuition fees, and examination fees.
Question: Can the scholarship be availed in conjunction with other scholarships?
Answer: No, students should not receive two government scholarships simultaneously for the same course to avoid duplication of benefits.
Question: How can I apply for these scholarships?
Answer: Most Maharashtra scholarships accept applications online via the MahaDBT portal (mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in) or sometimes offline through educational institutions. Applicants need to register, fill out forms, and upload documents like caste, domicile, income certificates, and mark sheets.
Question: Are there income limits for Maharashtra scholarships?
Answer: Yes, many scholarships have family income limits, often up to ₹2.5 lakh per annum for full benefits, but some scholarships, like merit-based ones, do not have strict income limits.
Question: Can scholarship amounts vary depending on course type or student status?
Answer: Yes, maintenance allowances and fee reimbursements often vary if the student is a day scholar or hosteller and by the type of course (higher secondary, diploma, undergraduate, professional).
