The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is one of the prominent ministries that look after the promotion of Indian culture. It offers a number of scholarships to promote the education of Indian artists in their respective fields. Talent Scholarships – Key Eligibility

As the name suggests, talent scholarships are given to students on the basis of their respective talents. While some scholarships are available for sportspersons, some are available for young artists, musicians and dancers. The eligibility criteria for these scholarships also vary depending on the provider. Find below a detailed description of the key eligibility conditions that you need to fulfil to apply for any of the given talent scholarships.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria of Talent Scholarships

  • Young Indian musicians between the age group of 25 years and 40 years can apply.
  • They must hold a diploma/degree in Indian Classical Music from a recognised institution or university.
  • They must have at least 10 years of training in Indian Classical Music.
  • There must also be a minimum of 2 to 3 solo performances to their credit.
2.Sanskriti – Kalakriti Fellowship
  • Indian artists between the age group of 25 years and 40 years can apply.
  • They must have at least 10 years of training in Indian Classical Dance.
  • There must also be a minimum of 2 to 3 solo performances to their credit.
3.Sanskriti – Madhobi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship
  • Artists from the genres of Indian Classical Music or Dance can apply for this scholarship.
  • They must have given a minimum of 2 to 3 solo performances.
  • They must also have obtained some years of formal training in the prescribed field.
4.Sanskriti – Pt. Vasant Thakar Memorial Fellowship
  • This fellowship is open for highly talented citizens of India involved in any genre of Indian Classical Music (instrumental/vocal).
5.The Ian Parry Scholarship
  • The scholarship is applicable for young photographers who are attending a full-time photography course or those photographers who are under 24 years of age.
6.Keep India Smiling Foundational Scholarship Programme for Sportspersons
  • Sportspersons who have represented the country/state/district at the national/state/district level can apply.
  • They must be ranked within 500 in national ranking/ within 100 in state ranking/ within 10 in district ranking.
  • The annual income of their family should be less than INR 5 Lakhs.
7.Cash Awards for Sportspersons, Haryana
  • Sportspersons who are domicile of Haryana state and are playing for the state at the national level can apply for this award.
  • They must not have played for any other state/UT than Haryana.
8.SDAT Sports Scholarship Scheme
  • Students who are domiciled in Tamil Nadu can apply.
  • They must be studying in High School/ Higher Secondary School/ College/ University.
  • They must also be a winner of National School Games organised by different sports federations or the government of India.
  • They must be a medal winner.
9.National Sports Talent Search Grant for STC
  • This scholarship is meant for SAI Training Centres (STC).
  • For individual sports, the students must be aged between 12 years and 18 years.
  • For team sports, the students must be aged between 10 years and 18 years.
10.National Sports Talent Search Grant for SAG
  • The scholarship is meant for Special Area Games (SAG).
  • For individual sports, the students must be aged between 12 years and 18 years.
  • For team sports, the students must be aged between 10 years and 18 years.
  • The students between 12 years and 14 years who have a genetic advantage can also apply.
11.Inlaks Fine Arts Awards
  • Young emerging artists residing in India can apply for this scholarship.
  • They must be below 30 years of age.
  • They may be a recent graduate or postgraduate or final year student of visual arts in a reputed institution.
  • In case of not holding a formal degree, the applicant must have participated in organised art exhibitions.

Note: The students studying in first-year master’s degree cannot apply for this scholarship.

12.Inlaks Theatre Awards
  • Recent graduates or postgraduates in theatre arts can apply.
  • They must be under 35 years of age.
13.Inlaks Fellowships for Indian Classical Music
  • Indian citizens practising vocal music in Indian classical tradition can apply.
  • They must be under 30 years of age.
14.Young Artistes Scholarship
  • Young artists having adequate education in fields of Indian Classical Dance, Indian Classical Music, Mime, Theatre, Visual Art, Folk, Traditional & Indigenous Arts and Light Classical Music, etc.
  • They must have undertaken training for a minimum of 5 years with their Institutes/Guru.
  • They must also fall within the age-group of 18 to 25 years.
15.Senior/Junior Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the Field of Culture
  • Graduate artists falling within the age group of 25 to 40 years can apply for Junior Fellowship.
  • Graduate artists above 40 years of age can apply for Senior Fellowship.
  • They must not be in receipt of any Junior or Senior fellowship earlier.
16.Indian Oil Sports Scholarship Scheme
  • The sportspersons within the age-group of 13 to 19 years can apply for this scholarship under two categories – Scholar and Elite Scholar.
  • To apply under the Scholar category, the applicants must have represented their state teams at the junior or senior level and have a national ranking of 6 to 15.
  • To apply under the Elite Scholar category, the applicants must have represented their country at the junior or senior level and have a national ranking or 1 to 5.
17.Symbiosis Society Foundation Sports Scholarships
  • The prospective students or bonafide students of Symbiosis International University can apply for this scholarship.
  • They must be proficient in varied disciplines of sports like Cricket, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Athletics, Hockey, Football, Tennis, Volleyball, etc.
18.Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship
  • Indian artists having an art background or an education in the field of Arts can apply for this scholarship.
  • They must be falling within the age group of 21 years to 35 years.
19.AAI Sports Scholarship Scheme in India
  • Players from India who are above 14 years of age can apply for this scholarship.
  • They must have represented the country in Sub-Junior/ Junior/ Senior National Championships, National School Games, All India Inter-University Tournaments in last 2 years.
20.Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme
  • Young students falling within the age group of 10 to 14 years can apply.
  • They must be studying in an institution or belong to a family which practices traditional performing arts.
