This article covers three verified, official methods to check Aadhaar seeding status in the NPCI mapper, along with the meaning of each status and what to do if the account appears inactive.
Why Checking NPCI Mapper Status Matters for Scholarships
NSP scholarships are credited exclusively through DBT to the Aadhaar-seeded account registered in the NPCI mapper. A bank linking an Aadhaar number to a customer’s account in its Core Banking System (CBS) is a separate action from updating the NPCI mapper. An account can appear as “Aadhaar linked” at the bank branch while still showing as inactive in the NPCI mapper. In such cases, scholarship payments will not be credited.
Methods to Check Aadhaar Seeding Status in NPCI Mapper
Method 1: NPCI BASE Portal (Recommended)
The Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) portal, accessible via npci.org.in, is NPCI’s direct self-service platform for checking mapper status.
1. Visit npci.org.in and click on the “Customer” tab
2. Select “Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE)”
3. Click on “Get Aadhaar Mapped Status”
4. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
5. Enter the captcha and click “Check Status”
6. An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number; enter it and click Confirm
7. The portal displays your bank name, current mapping status (Active or Inactive), and the last updated date
The status “Enabled for DBT” confirms the account is active in the mapper and can receive scholarship payments. “Not Enabled for DBT” means seeding is absent or inactive.
Method 2: UIDAI myAadhaar Portal
The UIDAI provides a Bank Seeding Status check at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. The data displayed is fetched directly from the NPCI mapper, as confirmed by Vikaspedia (NIC).
1. Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/bank-seeding-status
2. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or 16-digit Virtual ID
3. Enter the security code (captcha) and click “Send OTP”
4. Enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-registered mobile number and click “Verify”
5. The result displays your masked Aadhaar number, bank linking status (Active or Inactive), bank linking date, and name of the bank
Method 3: USSD Code (Without Internet)
Students without internet access can check seeding status using the USSD service:
1. Dial 9999*1# from the mobile number registered with both Aadhaar and the bank account
2. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number when prompted
3. The seeding status is displayed on screen
Understanding the Seeding Status
| Status | Meaning | Action Required |
| Active / Enabled for DBT | Aadhaar is seeded in the NPCI mapper; DBT payments can be received | No action needed |
| Inactive / Not Enabled for DBT | Account is not seeded or seeding has lapsed | Visit bank branch to submit Aadhaar seeding consent form |
| No record found | Aadhaar has not been seeded with any bank | Complete fresh seeding via BASE or bank branch |
What to Do if Status is Inactive
If the NPCI mapper shows an Inactive status, the student must visit their bank branch in person with a copy of their Aadhaar card and bank passbook, and submit the Aadhaar seeding consent form (Annexure I). The branch will then update both the CBS and the NPCI mapper. As per the official NPCI process document, the responsibility for updating the NPCI mapper lies entirely with the bank. If the Aadhaar number does not reflect in the NPCI mapper after submission, the student should escalate through the bank’s customer service. For further escalation, write to npci.dbtl@npci.org.in with a copy of the bank-acknowledged consent form.
