How to Link Aadhaar with Bank Account Using BASE Platform: Services, Steps, Status Check

Linking an Aadhaar number with a bank account is a mandatory requirement for receiving government scholarships and subsidies through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) platform at npci.org.in to allow citizens to perform Aadhaar seeding and de-seeding activities digitally, without visiting a bank branch. Students applying on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) must complete this process before the scholarship amount can be disbursed.

Scholarship Registration and Login

BASE is a self-service portal that processes all Aadhaar-bank mapping requests in real time. Only one bank account can be seeded with an Aadhaar number at a time, and that account becomes the primary account for receiving government subsidies and DBT payments.

Services Available on the BASE Platform

The BASE platform provides the following services, as documented by NPCI:

Service Description
Fresh Seeding Link Aadhaar to a bank account for the first time
Movement Within the Same Bank Shift Aadhaar linkage from one account to another within the same bank
Movement to Another Bank Transfer Aadhaar linkage from one bank to a different bank
Aadhaar De-Seeding Remove Aadhaar linkage from a bank account
Get Account Details View the bank account currently seeded with Aadhaar
Aadhaar Mapped Status Check whether the Aadhaar is currently linked to any bank account
Aadhaar Mapping History View all past Aadhaar-bank linkage records
Check Service Status Track the status of a previously submitted seeding request

Prerequisite to Use BASE

Before using the BASE platform, the following must be in place:

1. The Aadhaar number must be valid and active

2. The mobile number registered with Aadhaar must also be linked to the bank account where seeding is required

3. OTP verification is mandatory for every action on BASE; without a linked mobile number, the process cannot be completed
