Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) Maharashtra – Eligibility Criteria

Below is the general eligibility criteria (i.e. common/basic requirements) for the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS), Maharashtra, especially under the Government of India/MahaDBT scheme:

  1. The applicant must be a resident (domicile) of the state of Maharashtra.
  2. The applicant must belong to the relevant eligible community/category (for example, Scheduled Caste (SC) or Neo-Buddhist under the SC/Neo-Buddhist PMS scheme).
  3. The total annual income of the applicant’s parents or guardian (from all sources) must not exceed a specified ceiling (for SC/Neo-Buddhist scheme in Maharashtra, this is ₹2,50,000).
  4. The applicant must have passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC / Class 10) examination or an equivalent matriculation examination. 
  5. The applicant must be studying in a post-matriculation course (i.e. classes beyond 10th, e.g. Class 11, 12, undergraduate, postgraduate, professional courses, etc.). 
  6. In case of professional courses, only up to two professional courses are allowed under this scholarship scheme. 
  7. If the applicant fails a year or fails in the same class more than once, eligibility for maintenance or allowances may be restricted (for example, if the applicant fails twice in the same class, they may not receive allowance for that year).
  8. If the student is studying outside Maharashtra, the eligibility rules will be applied as per the Government of India guidelines.
