Top Government Scholarships with Deadline Approaching – Know How to Apply?

The last date to apply for different central sector scholarships for academic year 2020-21 on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is closing soon. The Government of India along with its different subsidiary departments had announced the central sector scholarship schemes in the month of August, the deadline for which has been extended till 20th January 2021. These scholarships are aimed at supporting the pre-matric and post-matric level education of students coming from different stratas of the society.

With very few days of application left, find below the list of top government scholarships, the deadline of which is 20th January 2021 and apply for them accordingly.

Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities

Minority community students who are studying in Class 11 to PhD level are eligible. They must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous qualifying examination. Their annual family income must be less than INR 2 lakh from all sources.

Provider Detail: Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA)

Scholarship Award: Admission fee, tuition fee and maintenance allowance

Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

This scholarship supports the post-matric studies of students with disabilities. They must have more than 40% disability and a valid certificate for the same. They are required to have passed matriculation or higher secondary or any higher exam of a recognized board of secondary education or university. They must be studying in Class 11 to postgraduate level. Their annual family income must be less than INR 2.50 lakh from all sources.

Scholarship Award: Maintenance allowance, disability allowance, and book allowance

National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students

While the scholarship supports the undergraduate or postgraduate studies of ST category students, the fellowship is meant for students pursuing MPhil/PhD courses. For fellowship, the students are required to have passed their post-graduation examination. Furthermore, if you want to apply for the scholarship, the annual income of your family must be less than INR 6 lakh from all sources.

Scholarship Award: Up to INR 28,000 per month and other benefits

Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses CS (Minorities)

Minority communities students who are pursuing technical or professional courses at undergraduate or postgraduate level are eligible for this scholarship. They are required to have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination. The annual family income must be less than INR 2.50 lakh from all sources.

Scholarship Award: Course fee and maintenance allowance

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students

This scheme is open for Class 12 passed students who are above the 80th percentile of successful candidates in their relevant stream in Class 12. They must be pursuing a regular undergraduate or postgraduate course from a recognized university/college/institution. The annual family income must be less than INR 8 lakh from all sources.

Provider Detail: Department of Higher Education

Scholarship Award: INR 10,000 to INR 20,000 per annum

Step 1: Visit the official website of National Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: Click on ‘New Registration’ and register on the portal.

Step 3: Once registered, login to the NSP dashboard using application ID and password.

Step 4: Fill the scholarship application form completely.

Step 5: Upload required documents in the specified size and format.

Step 6: Finally, submit the application.
