New Delhi, 13 October 2021 – The education department of Uttarakhand is planning to offer a monthly scholarship to students who have secured top ranks in Class 12 board exams. The scholarship is being offered so that meritorious students do not have to face financial difficulties while pursuing college education. As per department officials, a directive is being formulated to offer a monthly aid of INR 2,500 for a period of 5 years to the top 100 Class 12 scorers of the state. Out of these 100 students, 70 will be from the Uttrakhand Board of State Education (UBSE) and the remaining 30 will be from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Other than that, Uttarakhand’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the department officials to distribute free course books to all students from Classes 1 to 12 belonging to public schools in Uttarakhand from the next year. The state education board has also been instructed to provide bicycles to girl students of Class 9 living in plain areas and assistance of INR 2,850 to girl students living in hilly areas.
Note: Earlier, public school students of Classes 9 to 12, who belonged to SC and ST quotas were eligible for free books. However, as per the new instructions, public school students of Classes 1 to 12 belonging to all quotas will be eligible for free course books.
