About The Program
Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi 2023, Telangana is an initiative by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Telangana for BC and EBC category students who want to pursue UG, PG, and Ph.D. level courses in abroad. The key objective of the scheme is to enable the benefit of higher education in foreign universities to meritorious students thereby providing them with an opportunity for better career prospects within the country.
The selected candidates will receive a scholarship of up to INR 20 lakh or as mentioned in the admission letter (whichever is less). Additionally, students will receive one-way flight tickets (economic class) and visa charges.
EligibilityDeadline Date : Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be a resident of Telangana
- belong to Backward Class (BC) or Economically Backward Class (EBC)
- not be more than 35 years of age as on 1st July of the year of advertisement, as per SC/ST overseas scheme
- have secured a minimum of 60% in the previous qualifying examination
- be pursuing higher studies in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, France or South Korea
- have an annual family income below INR 5,00,000 from all sources
- have qualified English Proficiency Test as per GO
- have a valid TOEFL/IELTS/GRE/GMAT/PTE with the following minimum scores:
- TOEFL - 60
- IELTS - 6.0
- GRE - 260
- GMAT - 500
- PTE - 50
Note - Ph.D. courses are also eligible under the scheme.
Benefits
The selected scholars will receive a scholarship amount of up to INR 20,00,000 or as mentioned in the admission letter (whichever is less). Additionally, a one-way flight ticket (economic class) and visa charges.

How can you apply?
Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps -

- Only 1 child from a family is eligible.
- The above modifications with the existing guidelines issued in references 1st and 2nd read shall be considered for the selection of the students under the scheme.
- The candidates who must have not applied for 1st instalment/1st year will be eligible for 2nd instalment/2nd year under the Scheme.
- The student will be eligible for an educational loan from any nationalized bank or any other bank/department may issue a letter “to whoever concerned” informing the selection of candidates with financial assistance details so that it will help.
- 5% of 300 students i.e., 15 seats shall be reserved/considered for Economically Backward Classes students.
- Candidates with less than 60% minimum marks in their degree or postgraduate studies may still be eligible for admission to overseas universities or institutions if they achieve a satisfactory score in qualifying tests like GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. This relaxation is granted on a case-by-case basis by the government when registrations do not meet budgetary expectations.
