About The Program

Telangana Pre-Matric Scholarships For SC/ST/BC/PwD Students 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare (BC Welfare), Scheduled Castes Development Department (SC Welfare), and Scheduled Tribes Development Department (ST Welfare), Government of Telangana to SC/ST/BC/PwD students studying at a pre-matric level of education.  This scholarship scheme aims to support meritorious and underprivileged students to pursue their school education without any financial constraints. Selected scholars will receive a scholarship amount of up to  ₹350 per month, an annual ad-hoc grant of ₹1,000 and other benefits.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a domicile of Telangana

  • belong to the Schedule Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Backward Classes (BC)/Disabled category 

  • be a regular, full-time student enrolled in Class 1 to 10 in a government school/government-aided school/school run by local bodies such as Mandal Praja Parishad, Zilla Praja Parishad, Municipalities/Municipal Corporations or any school aided by the Government of the state 

  • fulfil the below-mentioned annual family income criteria:

    • For SC/ST/BC students: ₹2,00,000

    • For disabled category students: ₹1,00,000

  • not be receiving any other centrally-funded pre-matric scholarship

Note:- The scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, they will not receive a scholarship for that class again.

Benefits

The selected candidates will receive:

For class 5 to 8: 

  • Day scholar boys: ₹ 100/- per month (for 10 months)

  • Day scholar girls: ₹ 150/- per month (for 10 months)

For class 9 and 10:

Students from the ST category:

  • Day scholars receive a scholarship of  ₹ 150/- per month (for 10 months) and books/ad hoc grant of  ₹ 750/- per annum.

  • Hostellers receive a scholarship of  ₹ 350/- per month (for 10 months) and books/ad hoc grant of  ₹ 1000/- per annum.

Students from the SC category: Day scholars receive an amount of ₹3000/- per annum.

For physically disabled students:

  • Class 1 to 5: ₹ 700 per academic year

  • Class 6 to 8: ₹ 1000 per academic year

  • Class 9 and 10: ₹ 1820 per academic year

Class 1 to 10 students with locomotor disabilities receive ₹250/- towards maintenance of prosthetic aids and ₹500/- as travel allowance. 

Reader allowance for visually impaired students:

  • Class 1 to 8: ₹250/-

  • Class 9 and 10: ₹500/-

  • Annual income certificate as issued by the Mee-Seva Kendra

  • First page of an Aadhaar-linked bank account passbook with IFSC code, bank name and bank branch (size: greater than 100kb and less than 200kb; format: jpg/jpeg)

How can you apply?

Eligible students can apply for the scholarship by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1:
Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the ‘Registration’ button at the right-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Fill all the required details and upload all the necessary documents in the prescribed format.
Step 5: Enter the code in the image provided in the blank box and click on ‘Submit Application’
Step 6: The duly filled in application shall be downloaded and copies of all documents as given in e-pass shall be attached to the application and submitted to the school Head Master.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

  • After the submission of the online application form, 
  • The Head Masters of the school shall verify all the detail on the application and countersign the application. They shall also certify that the student is not receiving any other scholarship from the State or the Central Government.
  • All the applications of the students shall be forwarded to the local hostel warden of the SC Development/Tribal Welfare Department. 
  • The Hostel Welfare Officer (in whose jurisdiction the school is located) shall verify all students applications received from the school.
  • Verification of the students by the Hostel Welfare Officer shall be done by authenticating the fingerprint of the student with the UIDA online using "Best Finger Detection"(BFD) online.
  • The Joint Director / Deputy Director (of the respective department) of the district shall process only those applications that have been authenticated online.
Terms and Conditions
  • Each student must give a declaration that he/she is not in receipt of any stipend/ scholarship from State Government or Central Government.
  • Scholarship applications of only such students who have been authenticated online shall be processed for scholarship

Question: Who is offering these scholarships?
Answer:
The Tribal Welfare Department, Scheduled Castes Welfare Department, and the Backward Classes Welfare Department of the Government of Telangana are offering these scholarships. 
Question: What is the mode of application?
Answer:
The application for this scholarship is online via the official scholarship portal. The duly filled in application shall be downloaded and copies of all documents as given in e-pass shall be attached to the application and submitted to the school Head Master.
Question: Can a student apply for more than one scholarship simultaneously?
Answer: A student is eligible to receive only one scholarship at a time listed on the portal.
Question: Is this scholarship renewable?
Answer: 
After availing a scholarship benefit, if a student is successfully promoted to the next class, he/she can apply for scholarship renewal on the official epass portal.  If a student has to repeat a class, he/she shall not get a scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year. 
Question: Can general students apply for this scholarship?
Answer:
No, this scholarship is only for students from the SC, ST, BC, and disabled category.
