Scholarships for Engineering Students – Eligibility Criteria (Funded by Central Government)

Students enrolled in engineering courses can avail of numerous scholarships provided by the central government. Some of the popular scholarships offered are AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme, Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students etc. 

AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme

• Must be an Indian citizen
• A ward who lost one or both parents due to COVID-19
• A ward of Armed Forces or Central Paramilitary Forces personnel martyred in action (Shaheed)
• A ward of a person with a disability (PwD) having 80% or more disability caused by an accident
• A ward of a parent suffering from a critical or life-threatening illness
• Be enrolled full-time in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a regular degree or diploma program at an AICTE-approved institution
• Have a family income of less than ₹8,00,000 per annum

AICTE – Saksham Scholarship Scheme For Specially Abled Student 

• Must be an Indian national
• Have a benchmark disability of 40% or above
• Be enrolled in the first year or second year (via lateral entry) of a degree or diploma program at an AICTE-approved institution in the current academic year
• Have a family income below ₹8,00,000 per annum

AICTE – Pragati Scholarship Scheme For Girl Students

• Must be a female Indian national
• Must be enrolled in the first year of a diploma or degree program at an AICTE-approved institution
• Must be enrolled in the second year of a diploma or degree program through lateral entry at an AICTE-approved institution in the current academic year
• Have a family income below ₹8,00,000 per annum

Scholarship For Top Class Education For Students With Disabilities

• Must be an Indian citizen
• Have a minimum 40% disability as defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
• Must be pursuing a graduate, postgraduate, or diploma course from a recognised institution or university notified by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD)
• Have an annual family income not exceeding ₹8,00,000

Post-Matric Scholarship For Students With Disabilities 

• Must be an Indian citizen
• Must be enrolled in studies from Class 11 up to postgraduation at a recognised school or university
• Have a disability of 40% or more as defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
• Have an annual family income below ₹2,50,000

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

• Must be an Indian national
• Have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum of 80% marks in any stream, Science, Commerce, or Humanities under the 10+2 or equivalent pattern
• Must be currently pursuing an undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) program in a professional field at a college or institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or any other recognised regulatory body
• Have an annual parental or family income not exceeding ₹4,50,000

Khorana Program for Scholars

• Must be an Indian citizen
• Must be currently enrolled in a recognised institution of higher education in India
• Must be a pre-final year student in engineering or related fields such as B.Tech, B.E., M.Tech, M.E., or other allied areas like biotechnology, biomedical sciences, computational sciences, etc.
• Have at least one year remaining to complete their course
• Have a minimum CGPA of 8.0 or 80% marks (65% for MBBS students)

S.N. Bose Scholars Program

• Indian citizens pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a recognised institution in India
• Open to students in atmospheric and earth sciences, chemical sciences, engineering sciences, mathematical and computational sciences, and physical sciences

Scholarships for Engineering Students – Eligibility Criteria (Funded by State Government)

Engineering students have access to a variety of scholarships offered by state governments. Notable examples include the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship in West Bengal and the Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability in Maharashtra.

Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship, West Bengal

• Must be a resident of West Bengal
• Belong to minority/economically backward family
• Pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate engineering courses in AICTE-approved institutions
• Minimum marks: UG 1st year: 60% in Higher Secondary; UG 2nd year lateral entry: 60% in Diploma; PG: 55% in Graduation
• Family income must be less than or equal to ₹2,50,000 per annum
• Must not have another government scholarship for the same course

Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability, Maharashtra

• Must be a resident of Maharashtra
• Must have a disability of 40% or more (certified)
• Must be studying from Class 11 to Ph.D. in a government or government-aided institution in Maharashtra
• Must have been admitted through the CAP

Technical Education Scholarships for Diploma Students, Himachal Pradesh

• Must be a resident of Himachal Pradesh or a child of an HP government employee
• Must be enrolled in an AICTE-approved diploma or engineering/technology course (including Architecture)
• Must have scored at least 60% in the previous qualifying exam
• Selection through Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur, for courses outside HP, or through a competitive entrance exam for courses unavailable in HP
• Annual family income must be less than or equal to ₹1,50,000
• Must be pursuing courses not available within Himachal Pradesh, if studying outside the state

Nagaland State Merit Scholarship

• Must be a resident of Nagaland or permanently settled there
• Must be studying at post-matric level in a recognized institution
• Must have at least 80% in Class 10, Class 12, or Diploma for UG courses, and 70% in Graduation for PG courses

Rajasthan Yuva Vikas Prerak Internship Program (RYVP)

• Age between 18 and 35 years
• Graduates in Engineering, Medical, Agriculture, or Law
• Postgraduates in any discipline, including Development Studies, Economics, Management, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, or Communications
• Final-year postgraduate or doctoral students in the above fields
• Proficient in communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of IT applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

NEC Merit Scholarship

• Must be an Indian citizen and permanent resident of a Northeastern state
• Must be enrolled in a diploma, degree, postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. program
• Must have passed the required qualifying examination with at least 60% marks
• Annual family income must be less than ₹8,00,000

• Open to Indian students admitted in 2025-26 to top 50 NIRF engineering institutes in courses like ECE, IT, CS, Data Science, Aerospace, or emerging tech (AI, IoT, ML, Robotics)

• Must have passed Class 12 in 2024–25 with 60% in Class 10 and 12 (exceptions considered case-by-case)

Panasonic Ratti Chhatr Scholarship

• Open to first-year B.E./B.Tech students at any IIT for 2025–26
• Must have scored over 75% in Class 12
• Family income must be equal to or less than ₹8,00,000 per annum
• Only for the 2025–26 batch

HDFC Bank Parivartan ECSS Programme

• Open to Indian students pursuing graduation (general or professional courses) in recognized colleges/universities in India
