About JBNSTS
Founded to commemorate the legacy of Acharya J.C. Bose, a pioneering Indian scientist, JBNSTS identifies and supports meritorious students pursuing science, engineering, and medicine. Funded by the West Bengal Government, the Ministry of Education, CSIR, and the Department of Science and Technology, the program operates in West Bengal and 12 other states. It provides financial aid, mentorship, workshops, seminars, and research opportunities to promote scientific innovation and academic excellence.
JBNSTS Junior Scholarship 2025
This JBNSTS supports meritorious Class 11 science students in West Bengal through financial assistance and academic enrichment, and it cultivates future scientists and innovators. The program promotes critical thinking, scientific aptitude, and research exposure from a young age.
JBNSTS Junior Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for the JBNSTS Junior Scholarship/Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti:
- Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal or have passed their Class 10 examination from a school in West Bengal.
- Students must have passed the Class 10 (Madhyamik or equivalent) examination in 2025 with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate.
- Candidates must be enrolled in Class 11 in the science stream at a recognised school or institute in West Bengal or other specified states during the 2025 academic year.
- Students must have selected at least three subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, or Computer Science in their Class 11 curriculum.

Exam Structure
The Junior Talent Search Test (JTST) is a 2-hour written exam worth 90 marks, covering:
- Physical Science: 6 questions (30 marks).
- Mathematics: 6 questions (30 marks).
- Life Science: 6 questions (30 marks). Each question carries 5 marks, based on the Class 10 syllabus (NCERT or West Bengal Board). Selection involves progression through two phases: a written test and a personal interview. Approximately 450 of over 15,000 applicants are shortlisted for interviews, with 200 Junior Scholars, 50 Female Scientist awardees, and 50 encouragement awardees selected.
JBNSTS Senior Scholarship 2025
JBNSTS Senior Scholarship/Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti is a merit-based program to support talented students in West Bengal pursuing undergraduate studies in Basic Sciences (Hons.), Engineering, or Medicine at registered institutions.
JBNSTS Senior Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- The candidate must have passed the Class 12 examination in 2025 with at least 75% marks in aggregate.
- The candidate must be enrolled in a B.Sc. (Hons.), B.Tech, B.E., or MBBS program at a registered institution in West Bengal.
- The candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in the Class 10 examination.

How to Apply for JBNSTS?
Applying for JBNSTS is a simple and easy process. Eligible students are required to follow the steps below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of JBNSTS AT jbnsts.ac.in/jbexam/index.php
Step 3: Read the given details and instructions and navigate to the “Apply” button at the bottom of the page for the respective exam: Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search Senior Scholarship Test/Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search Junior Scholarship Test (as shown in the image below).
Step 4: Fill in the required information, upload the documents in the prescribed size/format, pay the application fee and submit the application form.
JBNSTS Application Fee
The application fee for the Junior Talent Search Test / Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti 2025 is ₹100, while the fee for the Senior Talent Search Test (STST) / Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti (SBKMB) 2025 is ₹200.
JBNSTS application fees, once paid, are non-refundable. However, in the event of any excess payment due to any reason, the student may submit a claim to the Director, Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search, by writing to jbnsts@jbnsts.ac.in
JBNSTS Admit Card Download
By following the steps below, eligible students can easily download their JBNSTS admit card:
Step 1: Go to the official website of JBNSTS.
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Download your Admit Card’ section as shown in the image below and click on the respective option.
Step 3: Enter your registration number and bank transaction number to download the JBNSTS admit card. Students who want to download and print their JBNSTS application form can do it by entering their registration number.

JBNSTS Selection Process
JBNSTS selects eligible candidates for the Junior Talent Search Examination through two stages: a written test and a personal interview. For the Junior Talent Search Examination, there is an additional stage. Candidates applying for the Senior Talent Search Examination are assessed based on a written test, a personal interview, and a scientific creativity test.
