How to Change Bank Account Details in NSP After Final Submission – Withdraw Application, Nodal Officer Process

Sometimes students find out that the bank details are incorrect after applying for scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) . The NSP portal is managed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology at scholarships.gov.in, and does not allow applicants to directly edit any details after the final submission. Taking an immediate corrective measure on this issue is essential, as incorrect bank details result in a failed Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and the scholarship amount will not be credited.

Can You Edit Bank Account Details on NSP After Final Submission?

Scholarship Registration and Login

No, once a student clicks Final Submit, the application is forwarded to the next verification level and cannot be edited by the applicant. Applicants cannot change or update bank details during an active fresh application on NSP. The provision to change bank account details is available only during renewal of the scholarship in the subsequent academic year, and is restricted to one time only per academic year.

How to Change Bank Account Details in NSP After Final Submission

Since a direct change is not possible after final submission of a fresh application, there are two alternatives available. Both are confirmed by official NSP documentation published on scholarships.gov.in.

Option 1: Withdraw the Application and Re-apply

The NSP portal provides a Withdraw Application service. This allows a student to cancel the submitted application and re-apply with corrected bank details, provided the application has not yet received final approval from the verifying authority.

Steps to withdraw an NSP application:

1. Log in at scholarships.gov.in with your student credentials

2. Navigate to the “My Applications” section

3. Click “Proceed” against the relevant application

4. Select “Withdraw Application” from the menu

5. Click “Withdraw” and complete OTP verification

6. Re-apply with the correct bank account details before the scheme’s closing date

Important: Withdrawal is available only before the application receives final approval from the Institute Nodal Officer or State Nodal Officer. If the application has already been finally verified and approved, withdrawal is no longer possible and students must proceed to Option 2.

Option 2: Contact the Institute Nodal Officer

Institute and State Nodal Officers can edit specific fields, including IFSC code and bank account number. Students should:

1. Visit the scholarship cell at the college or school and approach the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) immediately

2. Carry the correct bank passbook clearly showing the account number and IFSC code

3. Submit a written, dated request to the INO with the Application ID, asking for the bank details to be corrected

4. State-wise and scheme-wise Nodal Officer contact details are available under the “Services” section on scholarships.gov.in

For Renewal Applicants: Updating Bank Details

Students who are applying for renewal of their NSP scholarship do have a direct provision to change their bank account details. Applicants can change or update bank details during renewal in the subsequent academic year. This option is restricted to one time only per academic year. The new account must be Aadhaar-seeded and active for DBT.

NSP Helpdesk Contact Details

For unresolved issues or technical difficulties, the official NSP Helpdesk can be reached at:

Phone: 0120-6619540 (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, all days except government holidays)

Email: helpdesk@nsp.gov.in

A formal grievance can also be submitted through the Grievance Registration section on scholarships.gov.in.

Bank Account Requirements on NSP

1. The bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded for successful DBT disbursement

2. The account holder’s name must match the applicant’s name; a mismatch results in application rejection with no opportunity to correct the account number, as confirmed by official NSP scheme guidelines

3. A unique bank account number is required per application

4. The account must remain active until the scholarship amount is disbursed

5. A scheduled bank with core banking facility is recommended
