The Higher Education Department, Tamil Nadu has come up with fresh guidelines for the first graduate scholarship scheme for 2024-2025. As per the official notification, the state government will bear the cost of the entire tuition fee for students who get admission to professional courses through a single window.
An official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) clarified that the principals of the colleges have to ensure that students from SC/ST/SCC/SCA categories, who are already beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s Education Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) along with students admitted under the 7.5% reservation scholarship won’t be able to avail the first graduate scholarship scheme.

Furthermore, the principals of the colleges also need to submit hard copies of the list of beneficiaries, jointly signed by the principal and the chairman.
Cross verification of students has also to be ensured by sending the list of students eligible for PMSS separately.
It must be noted that this scholarship scheme was started with the objective to promote higher education among the families with no graduate. The state government is expected to spend nearly Rs 400 Crore on the scholarship scheme that will benefit around 1.6 lakhs students this academic year.
