Maharashtra Scholarships
Ever since the introduction and adoption of the DBT or Direct Bank Transfer scheme by the state governments, there is a surge in the number of scholarships offered. Maharashtra already boasts of fantastic numbers when it comes to scholars under the Maharashtra Scholarship category. Currently, the state offers more than 40 schemes shortlisted from 5 departments where benefits are directly transferred to the beneficiaries account:
Higher and Technical Education
Social Justice & Special Assistance
Tribal Development
Minorities Development
School Education & Sports
MahaDBT, Government of Maharashtra (for Maharashtra Scholarship)
All these scholarship are now disbursed via the Maharashtra State Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Services portal. This portal is intended to pass on all the benefits of the Maharashtra scholarship schemes listed for students and offered by various departments of the state. Going forward, the Government of Maharashtra intends to onboard more than 300 such schemes for the welfare of students, a large chunk of this would fall under the Maharashtra Scholarship category.
Here are some of the most popular government scholarships for students of Maharashtra:
Be a visually impaired, orthopedically handicapped or hearing impaired student
Have minimum disability of 40 percent
Between 6-18 years of age (for special education) or 18 years and above (for vocational training)
Award:
Free education access in a suitable environment until the age of 18 years
After completion of 18 years special children will be provided with vocational training that covers free facilities of shelter, food, education, and clothing
Annual family income should not exceed INR 2 Lac – SC
Annual family income should not exceed INR 1 Lac – OBC
Annual family income should not exceed INR 1 Lac – SBC
Annual family income should not exceed INR 1 Lac – VJNT
Student must be domicile of Maharashtra state
Award:
Scheduled Castes including Nav Buddha students – INR 230 p.m. to INR 550 p.m. for boys and girls (Day Scholars) and INR 380 p.m. to INR 1200 p.m. for boys and girls (Hostellers)
OBC students – INR 90 to INR 190 Per Month (Day Scholars) and INR 150 to INR 425 per month (Hostellers)
SBC students – INR 90 to INR 190 Per Month (Day Scholars) and INR 150 to INR 425 per month (Hostellers)
VJNT students – INR 90 to INR 190 Per Month (Day Scholars) and INR 150 to INR 425 per month (Hostellers)
Obtained at least 60% marks in a graduate program in Arts, Commerce and Law and 70% marks in graduation in Science
Taken admission in a postgraduate program
Annual family income less than INR 75,000 from all sources
Not working either full-time or part-time
Award:
INR 5000
