The application window for the Mother Teresa Scholarship (MTS) for the academic calendar 2026 is currently active. Administered by Kerala’s State Minority Welfare Department, this scholarship benefits the native students of Kerala pursuing diploma in nursing/paramedical field.

Mother Teresa Scholarship 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

In order to be shortlisted for availing the benefit of the Mother Teresa Scholarship, students must fulfil the following eligibility criteria.

  • The applying candidate must be a permanent resident of the state of Kerala.
  • The applying candidate must belong to one of the specified minority religious communities including, Muslim, Christian (all sects), Sikh, Buddhist, Jain or Parsi.
  • Students who have secured admission in Diploma in Nursing (General Nursing) and Diploma in Paramedical courses in government/aided/government approved self-financing nursing Schools on merit basis are eligible for this scholarship.
  • The student must have secured 45% marks or more in the qualifying examination.
  • The annual family income of the students who fall under the Above Poverty Line (APL) category must not exceed ₹8 lakh from all sources.
  • There is no income criteria for students who belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
  • In addition, the student must also carry the proof that they’ve secured admission under the state merit quota.
  • Applicants must also have an account in their own name in any of the scheduled commercial banks.

Please Note – Students from APL category will only be considered if there’s a shortage of students from BPL category.

Mother Teresa Scholarship 2026 – Benefits

A scholarship of ₹15,000 is being provided to students belonging to the aforementioned minority religious communities. The benefits of this scholarship will be provided to a student only once. Those who applied for the scholarship last year and were awarded it need not apply this year.

Please Note – 50% of scholarship has been reserved for female students. If a certain percentage of female candidates are not available then male students are eligible for the scholarship.
