The launch of the scholarships was instituted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the Quad Summit in Wilmington, Delaware which also saw participation by the US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Institute of International Education (IIE), a global not-for-profit organization will be responsible for managing the fellowship.
Focus on Innovation & Collaboration
According to an official statement, “The fellowship develops a network of science and technology experts committed to advancing innovation and collaboration in the private, public, and academic sectors, in their own nations and among Quad countries. The program builds foundational understanding among Quad Fellows of one another’s societies and cultures through programming and networking opportunities with each country’s top scientists, technologists, and politicians.”
Quad Scholarship Eligibility for Master’s and Doctoral Programs
- Applicants should be citizens/permanent residents of one of the Quad countries – India, Australia, Japan, or the United States or any of the Southeast Asian countries.
- They should have completed a bachelor’s degree
Financial Benefits
Each eligible candidate will get a one-time financial support of $40,000 (Rs 33,39,218) to cover the academic expenses.
It must be noted that Quad is a diplomatic collaboration among India, Australia, Japan, and the United States.
