Governed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the AICTE PG Scholarships for GATE qualified candidates offers a monthly scholarship amount to students admitted to AICTE approved postgraduate programs in AICTE approved institutions/university for 24 months or until the completion of the course, whichever is lower.

AICTE PG Scholarship 2026-27 – Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the scholarship, candidates are required to check the eligibility criteria. Here is the detailed eligibility criteria for AICTE PG Scholarship.
- Candidates must have a valid GATE/CEED 2026 score at the time of admission. Admissions before or after the GATE/CEED score’s validity will not be accepted.
- Candidates must have an Aadhar-linked general savings bank account in their name. Joint, Jan-Dhan, no-frill, or transaction-limited accounts are not accepted.
- Candidates qualifying under SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/physically handicapped categories must upload a valid certificate to be eligible. Candidates without an authentic certificate are not eligible.
- Candidates must be admitted in AICTE approved institutions/university departments & AICTE approved programs viz. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology and Master of Design.
- Satisfactory academic performance and adherence to university/institute norms/rules and regulations is mandatory.
Exception –
- Candidates admitted to part-time courses are not eligible for the scholarship.
- Foreign students, sponsored candidates, and candidates admitted through the management quota are not eligible for the scholarship.
- Creamy layer OBC candidates who qualify under the OBC category are not eligible for the AICTE Scholarship for GATE.
- In case any student/scholar receives any financial assistance from any other organization during the tenure of course, the scholar will not be entitled for this scholarship.
- PG Scholarship is not admissible to passed out students taking 2nd time admission on the basis of re-qualifying GATE/CEED exam who have already availed the scholarship from AICTE or any other centrally funded institution like – IITs and NITs etc.

AICTE PG Scholarship 2026-27 – How to Apply?
Candidates interested in applying for AICTE PG Scholarship 2026-27 can follow the steps given below:
Step 1 – The first step is to visit the AICTE official website: aicte.gov.in.
Step 2 – On the home page click on schemes tab and then click on student development schemes.
Step 3 – All AICTE Scholarships list will be displayed in a new window. You need to select PG scholarship and then click on institute/student login.
Step 4 – A login window will open. Log in using your credentials: username and password.
Step 5 – Once logged in, fill out the necessary information, upload required documents and submit the application.
Step 6 – After you have submitted your application, the institute will verify the application and approve the scholarship.

AICTE PG Scholarship 2026-27 – Benefits
Students selected under AICTE PG Scholarship receive ₹12,400 per month. The Scholarship is tenable for 24 months or for the duration of the course i.e. from the date of commencement of classes till the date of completion of the classes whichever is lower and is not extendable under any circumstances.
Please note – Students of final years of dual degree integrated programmes would also be entitled to the AICTE PG Scholarship from the 9th semester onwards i.e. only for one year in final year.

AICTE PG Scholarship 2026-27 – Document Requirements
Following documents are required to be submitted when applying for AICTE PG Scholarship.
- GATE/CEED 2026 score card
- PDF copy of the passbook
- Aadhaar card copy (exempted for J&K, Meghalaya and Assam students)
- Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate for OBC candidates, issued within the last 1 year
- SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/physically handicapped certificates, attested by the institute principal or a gazetted officer, in Hindi/English (with translation if needed)

What is the duration of the AICTE PG Scholarship?
The AICTE PG Scholarship duration is 24 months or the duration of the course (whichever is lower). The scholarship is not extendable under any circumstances. Students of final years of dual degree integrated programmes would also be entitled to PG Scholarship from the 9th semester onwards i.e only for one year in final year.
Is there any reservation for EWS students under the AICTE PG Scholarship?
AICTE extends PG Scholarships to an additional 10% of candidates, beyond the approved intake for a particular course, from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, provided that the university or institute has enrolled students from EWS, in accordance with the MHRD.
Is there any compulsion for teaching activities?
It will be obligatory for every post-graduate student to undertake 8 to 10 hours (per week) of work related to teaching and research activities as assigned to him/ her by the institute. This could include tutorials, laboratory classes, development and maintenance of laboratories, assistance in research and development activities undertaken by faculty members, maintenance and operation of Computers and other central facilities, assistance in libraries, etc.
What is the mode and procedure of payment of Scholarship?
As of now the mode of payment of the AICTE PG Scholarship is DBT. Generally the mode and procedure of payment of scholarship to the students is governed by the policy decision committee of the AICTE and students may be notified from time to time regarding any changes via the web-portal or through advertisement in leading English/Hindi newspapers.
