Scholar Success Story: How Dolly Dewan paved way for her success defying all odds

‘The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.’ These are the words of Walt Disney- a pioneer of the American Animation industry. Turns out that never giving up and working consistently are the two major forces behind the success of Dolly Dewan- winner of Capital First Scholarship 2018-20. From convincing her parents to quitting her well paid job and juggling between her responsibilities at work to preparing for competitive exams, Dolly has done everything to emerge victorious.

Read the success story of Dolly Dewan who motivates everybody around her to never give up and stay determined no matter how harsh the conditions may be. Below are the excerpts of her interview with Buddy4Study:

Buddy4Study: Share with us a brief background about your academic and professional journey until now.

Dolly Dewan: I am a B.Tech. graduate in CSE from the reputed State Engineering College of Haryana. It helped me to start my professional life with one of the best financial organization of UK, Fidelity International. I worked there for three years.

Buddy4Study: What motivated you to pursue a course in management?

Dolly Dewan: Working in the technical domain of my organization, I always felt that my boundaries were limited to technicalities. I could not be a part of the business specific domain of my organization. That thing enticed me to pursue a course in management.

Buddy4Study: What were the key challenges faced by you during the course of your journey to reach here?

Dolly Dewan: The whole journey was full of challenges. While completing my day-to-day requirements at the office, I had to simultaneously prepare for the competitive examinations. And most importantly I had to assure my parents that I was making the correct decision to leave my well-settled job to pursue higher education.

Buddy4Study: What has been your source of inspiration?

Dolly Dewan: The leadership talks at Fidelity International greatly inspired me. They constantly reinforced the importance of pursuing a Management Degree from a reputed B-School.

Buddy4Study: How has your family supported you in your venture to pursue this course?

Dolly Dewan: My family’s trust in me is my biggest support. Their belief in me and their acceptance of my decision becomes my biggest motivation.

Buddy4Study: How did you come to know about the Capital First Scholarship? What were the steps followed to avail the scholarship?

Dolly Dewan: I saw a notice from Buddy4Study on hostel’s notice board as a course of my routine activity. I visited their website, got in touch with them for assistance, filled in the form online and submitted the application form.

Buddy4Study:  What are your ambitions in the future and how do you plan to execute them?

Dolly Dewan: In initial years of my career I want to learn as much as possible and in the later years, I want to work in proximity with an organization’s strategic team so that my decisions help the organization in attaining and maintaining its goals, missions and values. And the most important thing will be to contribute to the society which is responsible for all my success.

Buddy4Study: Any piece of advice that you would like to impart to other potential aspirants like you who are constrained by various challenges towards pursuing higher education?

Dolly Dewan: Never give up and keep trying to achieve your aspirations. As it is rightly said that nothing is impossible, therefore, all that you need is strong determination.
