NSP Centrally-Funded Scholarships Schemes – Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria for NSP centrally-funded scholarships vary for each scholarship. It requires applicants to meet prescribed academic qualifications, family income limits and category-specific conditions.
Pre Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
- Applicants must be a student with benchmark disability (40% or more).
- Must be studying in Class 9 or 10 in a recognized institution.
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- Students must be regularly attending classes.
Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
- Applicants must have a benchmark disability (40% or above).
- Must be pursuing Class 11 onwards, including diploma, UG or PG courses.
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- The course must be pursued in a recognized institution.
Scholarship for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities
- Applicants must have a benchmark disability (40% or above).
- Must be admitted to a notified top-class institution (IITs, NITs, reputed universities, etc.).
- Applicable for graduate or postgraduate professional courses.
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students
- Must be in the top 20 percentile of Class 12 board exam pass-outs.
- Should be pursuing regular UG or PG degree courses.
- Annual family income must not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- Diploma and correspondence courses are not eligible.
- Applicable for a maximum duration of 5 years, subject to renewal.
National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students
- Applicants must belong to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
- Must be pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral-level courses in a recognized institution.
- Admission should be secured through merit-based or entrance-based selection.
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹6 lakh.
- Scholarship is applicable to full-time regular courses only.
National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMSS)
- Applicants must be studying in Class 9 in a government, government-aided or local body school.
- Must have passed Class 8 with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST).
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakh.
- Students must not be a dropout and should continue education till Class 12.
Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Wards of States/UTs Police Personnel Martyred during Terror/Naxal Attacks
- Applicant must be a ward or widow of States/UTs police personnel martyred in terror or naxal attacks.
- Must be pursuing professional or degree-level courses in a recognized institution.
- Admission should be through regular full-time courses only.
- New applicants must have at least 60% marks in 10+2 / diploma / graduation or equivalent
- Renewal applicants must pass each subsequent academic year of the professional course with a minimum of 50% marks
Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) & Assam Rifles
- Applicants must be a ward or widow of CAPF/Assam Rifles personnel (serving, retired or deceased)
- Must be pursuing professional or technical courses at UG or PG level
- Admission must be in a recognized institution through a regular course
- New applicants must have at least 60% marks in 10+2 / diploma / graduation or equivalent
- Renewal applicants must pass each subsequent academic year of the professional course with a minimum of 50% marks
Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Ministry of Railways
- Applicants must be a ward or widow of Railway Protection Force (RPF/RPSF) personnel.
- Personnel should be serving, retired or deceased while in service.
- Students must be pursuing professional or technical courses at UG or PG level.
- Admission must be in a recognized institution through a regular full-time course.
- For BBA, BCA and BSc (Agriculture), MBBS and law courses at least 60% marks in required in Class 12
- For B.E. and B.Tech courses, minimum 60% marks in required in 10+2 or diploma with diploma applicable in case of lateral entry
- For MBA, B.Ed. and MCA courses, aggregate 60% marks are required in graduation
AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme (Technical Diploma)
- Applicants must be an orphan, ward of armed forces or student whose parent is suffering from critical life threatening disease or child of COVID-19 deceased
- Must be pursuing a technical diploma course in an AICTE-approved institution
- Should be pursuing a course in full-time mode
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh
AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme (Technical Degree)
- Applicants must be an orphan / ward of armed forces / COVID-19 affected family
- Must be pursuing a technical degree course in an AICTE-approved college

PM-USP Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh
- Applicants must be a domicile of Jammu and Kashmir or Ladakh
- Must have passed Class 12 from J&K/Ladakh
- Should be admitted to recognized institutions outside the UTs

- Selection is based on the YASASVI Entrance Test (YET)

Stipend Scheme for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies in Indian Statistical Institute
- Applicants must be admitted to UG or PG programmes at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI)

FAQs
Who can apply for NSP centrally funded scholarships?
Students studying in recognised schools or colleges who meet the scholarship’s academic, income and category criteria can apply for centrally funded scholarships available at NSP.
Is OTR mandatory for NSP applications?
Yes, One-Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory. Students must complete OTR using Aadhaar and a registered mobile number before applying for any NSP centrally funded scholarship scheme.
Can students apply for more than one NSP scholarship?
No, students can apply for only one scholarship scheme at a time. Multiple applications under different NSP centrally funded schemes are not permitted.
How is the scholarship amount paid to selected students?
The scholarship amount is directly transferred to the student’s verified bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system after successful institute and authority verification.
How to check the application status?
Students can check the status of the online application by logging at NSP using their permanent ID and date of birth. Once logged in, the 'Check your Status' icon will be displayed on the application dashboard.
