National Scholarship Portal Last Date – What is NSP?

National Scholarship Portal Last Date – National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a mission mode project under e-Governance plan which is the one-stop solution through which students can apply for scholarships at all India level. The aim of the portal is “S.M.A.R.T”- Simplified, Mission Oriented, Accountable, Responsive & Transparent system for effective disposal of scholarship applications and delivery of funds directly to the beneficiaries.

There are 20 schemes on the portal for which the government has disbursed around INR 894.4 Crore as of now on scholarships. There were 140 Lakh + applications received on the portal for a number of scholarships schemes such as post-matric scholarship, pre-matric scholarship, merit-cum-means scholarship, central sector schemes, incentive to girls scheme, national means-cum-merit scholarship, etc.

Latest Update: The applications for central sector scholarships on National Scholarship Portal have started on 16th August 2020. The last date to apply for these scholarships is 31st October 2020.

National Scholarship Portal under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India contains scholarships under 4 major categories: Central, UGC, and State Schemes. Under the Central Schemes, the students can apply for scholarships offered by 9 ministries of Government of India to economically weak students such as Ministry of Minority Affairs, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Department of School Education and Literacy, Department of Higher Education, WARB Ministry of Home Affairs, RPF Ministry of Railway and MHRD. The UGC and AICTE schemes include the scholarships offered by the University Grants Commission and All India Council for Technical Education.

Once you are aware of the National Scholarship Portal last date, you must head on to apply for the scholarships online through the portal. To begin with, you need to register yourself on NSP through student login. Furthermore, follow the instructions given below to ensure a hassle-free application.

National Scholarship Portal Last Date – Registration Process

For fresh registration, the students have to follow the steps below:

  1. Choose the state of domicile, scholarship category (pre or post-matric) etc.
  2. Provide information on name, scheme type (scholarship or incentive), date of birth etc.
  3. Provide information on gender, mobile number, email ID, etc.
  4. Key information on bank account details includes IFSC code, A/C number, Bank name, identification detail (Aadhar or bank A/C number).
  5. Fill in all these details and click “Register”.

National Scholarship Portal Last Date – Renewal Process

The National Scholarship Portal last date for renewal scholarship remains the same as for fresh applications. The students applying for renewal scholarship can log in to the portal using ‘Application Id’ and ‘Date of Birth’ which they registered in the previous year. An applicant can also use ‘Forgot Application ID’ to retrieve their ID. Only those applicants would be able to renew who had actually received the scholarships payment during the previous year from NSP.

The last date to apply for the scholarships available on NSP varies. However, for the academic year 2020-21, the last date of applications for central sector scholarships is 31st October 2020.

Q3. Where can the students apply for NSP scholarship renewal?

The students applying for renewal also need to apply through NSP. The last date to apply for renewal is same as for fresh applications. Please refer to the application process given above to know more.

Q4. What should an applicant do if he/she forgets the application id or password?

In case the students forget their application id or password, they can click on “Forget Application ID” or “Forget Password” button on the login page to retrieve it.

Yes, the students can track their application status through ‘Check your status’ tab anytime.

Q6. Can a student edit the form after final submission?

No, once the applicant submits the application form, no changes in information will be entertained. Thus, the students are required to properly check the application form before submitting.
