MMJKY Scholarship – Eligibility, Benefits, Application Process & More

The Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana or Chief Minister Public Welfare (Education Promotion) Scheme is meant to provide free higher education support to eligible students whose parent is registered as an unorganised worker with the Labour Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. 

Scholarship Registration and Login

The scheme covers students admitted to recognised undergraduate, postgraduate, polytechnic diploma, ITI and other eligible courses, and so far, a total of 30,402 applications have been filed, 18,022 applications have been recommended for sanction, and 9,466 applications have been sanctioned under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana. 

MMJKY Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

1. To be eligible under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana, the student’s mother or father must be registered as an unorganised worker with the Labour Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

2. For engineering courses, students must have secured a rank up to 1,50,000 in JEE Main and should have taken admission in a government or private engineering college on the basis of that eligibility. 

3. For medical and dental courses, students must have secured admission through NEET in MBBS or BDS courses offered by Central Government or State Government medical/dental colleges. Students admitted to MBBS courses in private medical colleges located in Madhya Pradesh are also covered. 

4. For law courses, students who take admission after Class 12 in National Law Universities (NLUs) or Delhi University through CLAT or through an entrance examination conducted by the institution are eligible 

5. The scheme applies to students taking admission in the undergraduate courses, polytechnic diploma courses, and ITI courses.

Career Assessment Test

6. Students enrolled in graduation programmes, integrated postgraduate programmes, and dual degree courses run by Central Government or State Government universities/institutions will also be eligible to apply for the MMJKY scholarship.

7. Students admitted to diploma, degree, and certificate courses in Paramedical Science conducted by government medical colleges or institutions under them will also have their payable fees borne by the State Government. 

8. All diploma courses conducted in polytechnic colleges are included. ITI courses are also included, and Global Skill Park is considered part of ITI for the purpose of the scheme. 

9. The scheme also covers all undergraduate courses conducted in government colleges/universities and government-aided colleges/universities of the State Government. 

MMJKY Scholarship Benefits

Under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana, the Madhya Pradesh Government bears the eligible education fee of selected students. The scheme mainly covers the admission fee and actual payable academic fee fixed by the Fee Regulatory Committee, Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission, Government of India, or State Government. However, mess charges and caution money are not covered under the scheme. 

MMJKY Scholarship Course-wise Benefits

1. Engineering Courses

For students admitted to government engineering colleges, the full payable fee is borne by the State Government. For students admitted to private engineering colleges, the government pays either ₹1.5 lakh or the actual payable fee, whichever is lower

2. Medical Courses

For eligible students admitted to MBBS or BDS courses through NEET in government medical or dental colleges, and for students admitted to MBBS courses in private medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, the payable fee is borne by the State Government. However, MBBS students are required to fulfil the service bond condition mentioned under the scheme. For government medical college students, the rural service period is 2 years with a bond of ₹10 lakh, while for private medical college students, the service period is 5 years with a bond of ₹25 lakh 

3. Law Courses

For eligible students admitted to law courses in NLUs or Delhi University through CLAT or institutional entrance examinations, the payable fee is borne by the State Government. 

Please note – Students receiving benefits under this scheme must complete their course and subjects within the time limit prescribed by the institution. If they do not complete the course within the prescribed period, the benefit will be stopped. 

MMJKY Scholarship Application Process

All Students who intend to avail Scholarships under the Mukhyamantri Jankalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana need to follow the steps given below.

1. MMJKY Scholarship Registration 

Step 1: Visit the official MMJKY portal and click on the student registration option.

Step 2: Fill in the demographic details, including Student’s first name and last name, gender, category, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, Class 10 and Class 12 details, Aadhaar number, Samagra ID, and the registration number of the parent registered as an unorganised worker in the Labour Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Step 3: Next, fill in the contact details, including Current residential address, permanent address, email ID, and student’s mobile number.

Step 4: Submit the registration form. After successful registration, the system generates a User ID and Password for the student.

2. MMJKY Scholarship Online Application Submission 

Step 1: Log in to the portal using the User ID and Password.

Step 2: Fill in the application form with the details, including Name of the institution, course details, qualifying examination details, and other required academic information.

Step 3: Upload the required documents, including the student’s photograph, scanned copies of marksheets, and fee receipt details.

Step 4: Review and edit the application, if required.

Step 5: Lock the application, submit it online, take a printout, and forward it online to the institute.

3. MMJKY Scholarship Application Verification 

Step 1: Submit the printed application form along with supporting documents to the institute.

Step 2: The institute verifies the application using the identifier mentioned on the physical form.

Step 3: The institute checks the submitted details against the student’s original documents, academic records, Aadhaar number, bank account details linked with Aadhaar, and other eligibility-related information.

Step 4: Based on verification, the institute may temporarily reject the application for correction, permanently reject it if the student is ineligible, or forward it to the Sanctioning Authority.

Step 5: The Sanctioning Authority reviews the application and either rejects it or sanctions it for disbursement. After approval, the payment process is initiated through the online system.

Please note – For students in government institutions, the payable fee will be transferred to the institution’s account. For students in private institutions, the payable amount will be transferred to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.

MMJKY Scholarship – Fees Covered Under this Scheme

Under this scheme, for higher education, the government will pay the fee payable to institutions in the form of:

1. Admission fee

2. Actual fee fixed by the Fee Regulatory Committee

3. Actual fee fixed by the Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission

4. Actual fee fixed by the Government of India or State Government

However, mess charges and caution money are not covered under the scheme.
