Following the same trend, girls outclassed boys in Class 10th in CBSE 2025 exams. The data by CBSE reflects that in Class 10, a total of 10,34,981 girls appeared in the exam, while 9,83,215 passed it. While it comes to boys, 13,36,958 took the exam and 12,38,421 finally passed it. This means that girls posted a passing percentage of 95, while the boys had to satisfy with a pass percentage of 92.63% only. Here too the girls dominated with their performance by a margin of over 2%.
Consistent Trends Over the Last 3 Years
Analysing the CBSE result data for the last 10 years, girls have posted a consistent passing percentage lead over the boys in Class 12 exams. According to the official data in the table below, the passing percentage margin of girls over boys has been around 6% only. In 2023, the girls pass percentage was 90.68% Vs 84.67% (Boys). In 2024, it stood at 91.52 for girls and 85.12 for boys. Furthermore, this year, the girls’ passing percentage stands at 91.64 Vs 85.7 (Boys). This means the difference stands at 6.01%, 6.4% and 5.94 percent in 2023, 2024 and 2025 respectively. Apart from the last 3 years, only 2020 recorded a performance difference of almost 6 years by the girls over boys.
In the rest of the years, girls’ performance in Class 12 CBSE exams has been a little inconsistent with the difference ranging from 0.54% to 5.4% over the boys.
Girls Dominated Class 12 Performance By 10% (2018-19)
Surprisingly the years 2016, 2018 and 2019 saw a wide gap in terms of performance by the girls and boys in Class 12th exams. While the passing percentage of girls was not exceptional (88.58, 88.31 and 88.7 in 2016, 2018 and 2019 respectively), still it posted a difference of close to 10%.
In 2016, the girls outperformed boys by 9.73%, while in 2018, girls dominated the performance by 9.32% as compared to boys. In 2019, the female dominance continued with a difference of 9.3% better result than boys.

Girls Maintain Dominance in Class 10th Result in 2026, 2018, 2020
The official result data of CBSE Class 10 for over a decade reflects that girls have dominated boys in this class too. However, the performance margin has been the maximum in 2016, 2018 and 2020. In 2016, 88.60% girls passed the Class 10 exam, while the passing percentage of boys stood at 78.90%. This translates into a pass percentage difference of 9.7%. Further, in 2018, a total of 88.67% girls cleared the Class 10 exam as compared to 85.32% boys. The year 2020 saw girls performing with a pass percentage of 93.31 compared to their peer boys with a success rate of 90.14%. This means a performance difference of 9.7%, 3.35% and 3.17% in 2016, 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Furthermore, the years 2019 and 2025 have posted almost similar results with girls dominating the results by 2.31% and 2.37% respectively. The rest of the years, the performance difference has been inconsistent ranging from 0.35% to 2.04%. However, the highlight of the data is the year 2017 where boys dominated with their performance, tough marginally, by .9%.
