APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To apply for APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship, student must meet the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:
- Students who have secured admission under merit seats in government, government-aided, or government-recognized self-financing polytechnic courses.
- Preference will be given to students from Below Poverty Line families. If eligible BPL candidates are not available, students from Above Poverty Line families belonging to minority communities with an annual family income up to ₹8 lakh will also be considered.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala.
- 30% of the total scholarships are reserved for female students. If the female quota remains unfilled, eligible male students will be considered.
- Selection of minority students will be done based on annual family income and academic merit, in proportion to the minority population.
- The scholarship will be awarded only once during the entire course duration.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Directorate of Minority Welfare of Kerala.
Step 2: First-time users need to register themselves and click on ‘Student Registration’.
Step 3: Students need to fill out the student registration form, and set up their account credentials.
Step 4: Now, the student can login using the email and password that they’ve set up in the previous step.
Step 5: After logging in, before applying for the scholarship the student needs to complete their profile, upload the documents, and add qualifications and other details.
Step 6: Now, fill in the registration form carefully. Enter the details as specified including, examination details (Register number/roll number), personal details and scholarship details.
