New Delhi, 23 November 2021 – The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to reimburse the fees and provide scholarships to around 55 lakh students this academic year. The scholarship amount decided for the current session will be given in 2 parts. The Yogi government has assured that the first set of scholarship amount will be deposited in the respective accounts of students by 30th November 2021.
Last year, during the peak of the pandemic, 39 lakh students belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, General, OBC, and Minority categories could avail the benefit of the UP scholarship scheme. This year, with a better situation and a large number of scholarship applications by students, about 55 lakh students will get the benefit of the scholarship scheme. In comparison to the number of benefitted students in the previous session, about 16 lakhs more students will get this financial help this year.
UP Scholarship 2021 – Financial Aid to be Credited in 2 Phases
As per PK Tripathi, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, Government of UP, the scholarship amount will be distributed among the students of Uttar Pradesh in 2 phases. This will be the first time when the students studying in classes 11, 12 and above are being given the UP scholarship and fee reimbursement in two separate phases.
The amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries. The disbursement (distribution) of the scholarship amount will be made to the students in the following ways:
- 1st Phase – The Social Welfare, Minority Welfare and Other Backward Classes Welfare Department will get 40% of the amount as State share, which they will transfer to students’ accounts.
- 2nd Phase – The Central Ministry will get 60% of the amount in the form of a Central share, which will be deposited in the accounts of the students.
Note: The scholarship fee compensation amount in these 2 phases is applicable only for students studying in classes 11, 12 and college. On the other hand, students of classes 9 and 10 will be given UP scholarship by the State government itself.
How will the students get UP Scholarship 2021?
Officials from the UP scholarship department said that the documents of 15 lakh students, who applied for the scholarship online till 18th November 2021 are being verified. After the completion of the verification process by 25th November 2021, the amount will be sent to the accounts of these students by 30th November 2021. This will be counted as Set 1 of the scholarship reimbursement process.
On the other hand, the students who will apply for the UP scholarship online by 29th November 2021 will receive the scholarship amount by 27th December 2021. This will be counted as Set 2 of the scholarship reimbursement process. In this set, a total of 40 lakh students will be eligible for the scholarship. This way, a total of 55 lakh students will be given scholarships and fee compensation in this session.
Meanwhile, the UP government is accepting online applications for the free laptop/computer scheme. As many as 22 lakh college students are expected to get benefitted under this scheme. Class 10 and 12 college students (residents of Uttar Pradesh) can apply for this scheme.
