SIRISH Scholarship encompasses a variety of schemes tailored to different educational stages and community needs. The Government of Assam offers the following schemes under the Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare for the financial year 2025–26.

1) Pre-Matric Scholarship – This aims at supporting the education of students belonging to Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities, thereby encouraging them to pursue and complete their school education from Class 1 to Class 10.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities with a valid caste certificate.
  • Students must be studying in Class 9 to Class 10. 
  • For students whose annual family income is less than ₹2,50,000, an income certificate stating that it does not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum is to be submitted by the parent(s)/guardian(s).

2) Post-Matric Scholarship – It aims to support SC/ST/OBC students with financial aid for studies beyond Class 10. It helps reduce dropout rates and promote access to higher education.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community.
  • The scholarship is awarded to students pursuing studies from Class 11 up to recognized three-year degree courses such as B.A., BBA, B.Com, B.Sc., and integrated graduate and postgraduate courses like Integrated MBA (BA+MBA/BBA+MBA), among others.
  • The applicant must produce a valid caste certificate that is duly certified or issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district or their designated official.

    The scholarship is available for all recognised post-matriculation or post-secondary courses in recognised institutions, excluding identified higher studies courses and vocational three-year degree courses or their equivalent.

3) Simon Sing Horo Special Post-Matric Scholarship – This initiative is designed to empower students from underprivileged communities by supporting their education beyond Class 10. This scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers and promote academic excellence among deserving youth.

  • The student must have passed the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA or an equivalent educational board recognised by the Government of Assam, and the HSSLC examination conducted by AHSEC or an equivalent educational board recognised by the Government of Assam during the current year.
  • The student must provide admission receipts as proof of continuation of their studies at the next level.
  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi community.
  • The applicant must produce a valid caste certificate, duly certified/issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district or their designated officer.
  • The incentive shall be paid irrespective of the number of students per family passing the HSLC/HSSLC examinations in a year.
  • Candidates applying for this incentive scheme shall also be eligible for the normal Post-Matric Scholarship, Financial Assistance for Higher Studies, and Financial Assistance for ANM/GNM/Technical Courses, if eligible, in the same year.

4) Financial Assistance for Higher Studies – This scheme offers financial assistance to students from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities to pursue higher and technical education. It supports studies in fields like Medicine, Engineering, Law, Research, and Administration, both in India and abroad.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi community.
  • The applicant must submit an undertaking on annual family income, stating that the total income does not exceed ₹5.00 lakh per annum. This must be submitted by the parent or guardian in the prescribed format.
  • Students pursuing their education through correspondence courses are also eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must provide the admission fee receipt or a recommendation from the Head of the Institution, certifying that he/she is currently undergoing the course.
  • The applicant must not be a Government service holder.
  • If the applicant is a failed student, he/she shall not be eligible to apply for the scholarship for the same class again.
  • An applicant who is eligible under this scheme will not be eligible for any other schemes, except for the “Simon Sing Horo Special Post-Matric Scholarship,” if eligible, in the same academic year.

5) Financial Assistance for ANM/GNM/Technical Courses – The scheme provides assistance to youths from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities for training in ANM, GNM, paramedical, and other job-oriented technical and professional diploma or degree courses of at least one year in duration, offered by both government and non-government institutes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and belong to the Tea Tribes or Adivasi community.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in ANM, GNM, or technical courses in Government or Government-recognised institutions.
  • Students pursuing professional, job-oriented technical diploma or degree courses must apply with complete details of their educational qualifications and the course(s) for which they are seeking financial assistance.
  • Students who have completed or discontinued their courses are not eligible. Only those who are currently and regularly enrolled are eligible to apply.
  • A valid caste certificate issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district or an authorised officer must be submitted.
  • An undertaking by the parent/guardian declaring that the annual family income does not exceed ₹5 lakh per annum must be submitted in the prescribed format.
  • The applicant must submit either a fee receipt for the ongoing course or a recommendation letter from the Head of the Institution confirming current enrollment.
  • Applicants eligible under this scheme shall not be eligible for any other financial assistance schemes in the same year, except for the “Simon Sing Horo (Special Post-Matric Scholarship”, if applicable.

Buddy4Study - Education Loan

6) Coaching for Higher Studies – The scheme aims to provide dedicated coaching support to students belonging to the Tea Tribes community, equipping them to prepare effectively for various competitive examinations such as Civil Services, Medical and Engineering entrance tests, Staff Selection Commission (Graduate Level), Banking (Probationary Officers), and others. This initiative aims to enhance their competitiveness and enable them to succeed alongside candidates from diverse backgrounds.

Eligible Criteria:

  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes’ community.
  • The candidate must produce a valid caste certificate (OBC/MOBC – TGL/Ex-TGL), duly certified by the Deputy Commissioner or the concerned authority/designated officer.
  • The applicant must submit an undertaking in the prescribed format stating their annual family income. 
  • The candidate must provide all necessary documents relayed to their educational qualifications to be eligible for coaching.
  • For undergraduate students preparing for medical and engineering entrance exams:
    • Medical aspirants must be from the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
    • Engineering aspirants must be from the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Candidates must have secured the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination as prescribed for the desired coaching, based on the subject and the availability of seats.
  • 30% of the total number of seats sanctioned for coaching shall be reserved for girl students and disabled candidates.
  • A candidate who has already received coaching under any financial assistance scheme from this Directorate will not be eligible for coaching in any subsequent year.

7) Grants to Women SHGs – The objective of the scheme is to extend financial assistance in the form of grants to women self-help groups from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities, to be utilised for undertaking income-generating activities aimed at enhancing their family income and livelihood.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Each Self Help Group (SHG) must consist of 10 to 20 members.
  • All members of the SHG should be within the age group of 18 to 59 years.
  • All members must be valid Indian citizens residing in the state of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community.
  • Each SHG must have a bank account with a joint-signatory provision.
  • The SHG must be registered with the respective Block Development Offices and Block Mission Management Units (BMMU) of the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM).
  • The SHG is required to submit a group photograph that includes all its members.
  • SHGs that have already received support under this scheme will not be eligible for another grant for a minimum period of three (3) years.

8) Swahid Dayal Das Panika Swaniyojan Achoni – The main aim of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to self-employed youth from the Tea Tribes community in Assam, encouraging and enabling them to engage in self-employment activities. The scheme aims to enhance their capabilities and promote sustainable livelihoods.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and must belong to the Tea Tribes community.
  • The candidate must produce Caste certificates (OBC – MOBC / TGL / EX TGL) which are duly certified by the Deputy Commissioner(s) of the concerned district(s) or his/her designated officer(s).
  • The applicant must be between 20 to 35 years of age as on 1st January of the year of application.
  • Applicants should be self-employed youth and must not be members of any govt/semi-government, authorities/boards, PR members, selection committee members, or permanent salaried staff of Tea Gardens.
  • The applicant must have less than 10 bighas of land in the name of his family. An undertaking in this regard should be submitted in the prescribed format. 
  • The applicant must submit an undertaking in the prescribed format stating his/her annual family income. Candidates who have successfully completed at least 3 months of skill training in the trade shall be given preference.
  • Physically handicapped candidates can also apply and shall be given due weightage as per government norms.
  • Only one applicant per family shall be selected for financial assistance.
  • The applicant must not have availed such benefit during the last three years.
  • The applicant shall submit a trade license issued by the Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Bodies like Municipal Corporations/Boards, etc.
  • A recommendation letter from the Chairman, Sub-Divisional Beneficiary Selection Committee and local MLA/MP stating him/her as eligible for the scheme should be submitted.

Step 2: After successful registration, the following page will appear on your screen with your username and password.

Step 3: Now, go to the login page and enter your login credentials to access your personalised portal and complete the application form. After a successful login, you will be directed to the following page.

Step 5: Under the “Other Details” section, select the appropriate options for the Caste Certificate and Government Service Holder status. In the “Bank Details” section, enter your bank account number, bank name, branch name, and IFSC code. All fields are mandatory. Once the form is complete, click “Save and Proceed”.

The applicant may also replace any uploaded document, if required. Additionally, the application can be cancelled at this step to initiate a fresh one. Click on “Confirm and Submit” to proceed.
