These words of Sir APJ Abdul Kalam have created a long-lasting mark in the life of Nimmala Vishnu, an exceptionally talented and academically meritorious scholar of Marubeni India Meritorious Scholarship 2018-19. Being a strong follower of the ‘Missile Man of India’, he has adopted a positive approach towards his dreams and aspirations. Even though his family comes from an agricultural background, he never let the finances rule over his aim of becoming a Scientist.
Here is what Nimmala has to say about his journey by far. Given below are the excerpts from his interview with Buddy4Study that will boost you up to face any challenges in life.
Buddy4Study: Share with us something about your academic background and professional journey.
I have completed my schooling from a government school where I obtained 98%. Adding to this, I am also good at sports. In class 12th, I appeared for the JEE Mains in which my All India Rank was below 10K. This achievement of my life helped me get admission in BE Computer Science course at IIT Kalyani.
Buddy4Study: Why did you opt to pursue BE in Computer Science?
Basically, I have a keen interest in Technology which further motivated me to take up Computer Science Engineering.
Buddy4Study: What were the key challenges that you come across throughout your journey till here?
I belong to a financially underprivileged family from a small village in Telangana. Financial hurdle is one of the major challenges that has been prevalent throughout my journey. My parents are Agricultural Labourers due to which they face difficulty in paying my college fee.
Buddy4Study: Who has been your biggest source of inspiration?
Sir APJ Abdul Kalam is my biggest source of inspiration. I have learned to adopt a positive approach to everything from him. Also, my parents’ hard work motivates me a lot to work harder.
Buddy4Study: How has your family supported you in pursuing this course?
My parents have always been supportive of what I wanted to do. Though they were unable to pay my college fee, they took an education loan to help me achieve my dreams.
Buddy4Study: How did you come to know about the Marubeni India Meritorious Scholarship? How did you avail the scholarship?
I am very thankful to Buddy4Study for notifying me about the Marubeni Scholarship. I applied for it through the platform online. After some days, I got a notification that I have been shortlisted for the interview. I passed both the telephonic and face-to-face rounds of interview and received the scholarship.
Buddy4Study: What are your ambitions for the future?
I want to become a DRDO Scientist so that I can make a valuable contribution to the development of the country.
Buddy4Study: What would you like to say to other potential aspirants like you who face various challenges in pursuing higher education?
Whenever you face difficult times, don’t try to run away from it. I believe the challenges are not meant to destroy you. Rather, they are intended to strengthen you.
