Medical Entrance Exams: Key Dates to Remember

After completing +2 examinations, generally students look forward to going for higher studies either in medical/engineering stream or any other professional course. At this stage, they get choosy about different career options. If students are choosing to go ahead with medical stream, then they need to choose the right college or institute to pursue the course. And moreover, they need to know the exact exam dates, admission dates of different institutes. These details are quite essential for them to know as several national and state-level medical entrance examinations are held every year in India.

To ease out their burden, we have compiled a list of key dates for the top medical entrance examinations held in the country.

NEET (AIPMT) 2018

Organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), formerly known as All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is conducted every year both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. For the undergraduate admissions, the examinations are held in the month of May every year.

This year the examination will be held on May 6, 2018 for which the applications will be accepted online between 8 February 2018 and 9 March 2018. The students aspiring to pursue MBBS or BDS program from top government universities of India can apply for this examination.

AIIMS Entrance Examination 2018

Another most famous medical entrance examination for the aspirants is conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a renowned institute of national significance. Offering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the institute conducts separate entrance examination for these courses. This year, the AIIMS entrance examination for MBBS will be held on 26 and 27 May 2018. The key dates to apply for this examination are from 5 February 2018 to 5 March 2018.

Did you know there are many scholarships for medical students based on the scores of these examinations? Most scholarships take AIPIMT, NEET scores but the state scholarships also accept examination scores like CET, JIPMER etc.

JIPMER Entrance Examination 2018

The Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is also counted as one of the top medical institutions in India, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses of study. The institute will conduct an online entrance examination on 3 June 2018 this year for which the applications will be accepted online between 7 March 2018 and 13 April 2018.

CMC CET 2018

The Christian Medical College (CMC) of Vellore is also another renowned medical college in India, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses for medical students. It conducts its common entrance test for admissions except for the MBBS course (admission through NEET). The examination date for this year is scheduled on 15 May 2018 for which the applications will be received from 21 February 2018 to 26 March 2018.
