Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Scholarship for SC Students

The Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Scholarship for SC Students aims at promoting quality education amongst students belonging to SCs, by providing financial support. The Scheme will cover SC students for pursuing studies beyond Class 12.  It operates in all the institutions notified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment from FY 2023-24 to 2025-26 including 20 National Law Universities (NLU) and  2 other private institutions including ILS Law College and Symbiosis Law College located in Pune, Maharashtra. The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance of the student.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fresh scholarships will be awarded only to students enrolled in the first year. 
  • The SC students having a total annual family income from all sources up to ₹8 lakh and having secured admission in a full-time prescribed course in any of the notified institutions according to the general selection criteria are eligible.
  • Thirty percent (30%) of slots allotted in the institution shall be reserved for eligible SC girl students as per their inter-se merit.
  • Merit criteria for selection will be based on the rank secured in CLAT and MHCET and SLAT. 
  • The benefit of the scheme will not be provided to more than 2 siblings in a family.
  • The selected candidate shall be precluded from availing any other scholarship benefits of similar schemes of the Centre or State Governments.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges with a ceiling of ₹2 lakh per annum per student for private sector institutions
  • Academic allowance of ₹86,000 in the first year of study and ₹41,000 in every subsequent year, meant for living expenses, books and stationery, computer/laptop of reputed brand with accessories like UPS and printer, etc. 
  • The scholarship benefits will become payable immediately after having secured admission.
  • The payment of tuition fee, other non-refundable charges and academic allowance will be made directly to the students by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer mode. 
  • The students shall deposit the fee to the institute immediately and in any case, within a month of receipt of such payment.

Required Documents:

The following documents must be uploaded in order to proceed with the application process.

  • Aadhar card or any valid identification proof 
  • Caste certificate (SC certificate) 
  • Family income certificate (issued by a competent authority) 
  • Admission letter obtained from the institution
  • Previous academic qualification certificates 
  • Bank account details (for scholarship disbursement) 

Application Process:

  • Interested applicants need to visit the National Scholarship Portal, the official platform designated for applying under this scheme. 
  • New users must complete the registration process by providing the essential details like their name, date of birth, contact information, and academic details.
  • Once registered, the students must fill in the required details in the scholarship application form.
  • After filling in all the necessary information details and having uploaded the required documents, the students can submit their application. It is crucial to revisit and verify the details before final submission in order to avoid errors.

Application Timeline – The last date of verification of applications of the students by the institutions on the NSP shall be 31st of October every year or the date decided by DBT Mission in consultation with stakeholder ministries. We will keep our readers well-informed. 

National Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students (Top Class Scholarship Scheme)

The National Scholarship Scheme aims to encourage meritorious ST students to pursue courses at the graduation and postgraduation level in premier institutes identified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in various professional fields such as Management, Medicine/Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Law and Social Science etc. This is a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and provides 100% funding to ST students in courses and institutes approved and notified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.  The scholarship once awarded will continue till completion of the course tenure, subject to satisfactory performance of the student, as assessed by the institute.

Eligibility Criteria

  • ST students who have secured admission in the notified institutions and courses approved by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • The annual family income of the student from all sources combined should not exceed ₹6 lakh.
  • The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is authorised to select and notify the list of reputed premier institutions. 

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Full admission fee, tuition fee and other non-refundable charges in the case of government institutes and subject to a ceiling of ₹2.50 lakh per annum per student if admitted in private sector institutes. 
  • A monthly stipend of ₹3,000 along with ₹5,000 per annum per student without bills/vouchers for books and stationery.
  • One-time assistance of ₹45,000 for computer accessories, desktop/laptop during the tenure of the course without the need of producing bills/vouchers.

Required Documents:

Following documents are required to be uploaded on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) in the process of filling the application form online.

  • ST Certificate/Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) certificate signed and stamped by competent authority. This is not required in the case of renewal.
  • Income certificate for the F.Y. preceding the year of selection issued by designated authority of the respective States/UTs. This is again not required in the case of renewal.
  • Scanned copy of the bank passbook ensuring that the name of the student and name mentioned in the application form are the same.
  • Marksheet/certificate of qualifying examination

  • Bonafide Certificate issued from the institute 

Registration Process: 

Before filling the online application form, candidates are required to register themselves on the National Scholarship Portal. They are advised to carefully go through the “Guidelines for Registration on National Scholarship Portal” before initiating the process of registration.

  • Applications are invited, processed, approved on the National Scholarship Portal. 
  • Students after having secured admission for various courses in the notified universities/institutes will submit the application online.

Application Timeline – The date of opening and closing of applications on the portal will be given due publicity through print and electronic media and through the institutes and states. The tentative dates of opening and closing of the portal will be advertised in the National Scholarship Portal every year (As decided by DBT Mission). Kotak Kanya Scholarship 2024-25

Career Assessment Test

Kotak Kanya Scholarship is a transformative CSR initiative of the Kotak Mahindra Group and Kotak Education Foundation. It supports meritorious girls from low-income families to pursue higher education in professional courses after Class 12. It offers financial aid for pursuing higher studies in courses including a 5-years Integrated LLB program.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • This is open to meritorious female students having secured 75% marks or more or an equivalent CGPA in Class 12 board examinations.

The Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation offers scholarships to meritorious students pursuing professional and technical courses at the undergraduate level, including LLB.
