Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The Bikash Bhavan Scholarship supports meritorious learners from economically backward families in West Bengal who are pursuing higher studies in institutions within the state. The key eligibility conditions are outlined below.

1. The total annual family income must not exceed  ₹2,50,000. (Not applicable for Board Toppers, Kanyashree K3 applicants, or M.Phil/Ph.D. scholars.)

2. Applicants must be studying in regular mode only.

3. Candidates cannot receive any other central or state government scholarship for the same level of study.

4. Eligible levels of study:

  • Class XI and XII
  • Undergraduate studies in science, arts, commerce, engineering, medical, and other technical or professional courses
  • Postgraduate studies in science, arts, commerce, technical, and management fields
  • M.Phil. and Ph.D. (Non-NET JRF and NET-LS) in state-aided institutions
  • Kanyashree K3 category: PG studies in arts, science, and commerce for girls with at least 45% marks in UG

5. Minimum marks required:

  • For HS Level (Class XI & XII): Minimum 60% in Madhyamik Pariksha (only WB Board students eligible).
  • For Diploma (Polytechnic) Courses: Minimum 60% in qualifying examination excluding optional elective subjects. Courses must be approved by AICTE/PCI/CoA and affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD.
  • For Undergraduate Level: Minimum 60% marks in HS from WBCHSE or Madrasa Board. Separate merit lists for Arts, Commerce, and Science.
  • For Undergraduate Lateral Entry (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy): Minimum 60% in Diploma from AICTE-approved institutes affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD or State Medical Faculty (for Pharmacy lateral entry).
  • For Postgraduate Level: Minimum 53% in UG Honours subject (general PG), 55% marks for Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy PG applicants and for Kanyashree K3 applicants; 45% in UG degree.
  • For M.Phil./Ph.D. (Non-NET): Full-time scholars registered on or after 01.04.2017.

6. Passing year condition:

  • Eligible candidates must have passed in 2024, 2023, 2022 or 2021.
  • Candidates from earlier years (2020 or before) require 75% marks.
  • Those who passed earlier but were unable to take admission due to unavoidable reasons may apply if enrolled in the year of advertisement.
