About The Program

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, West Bengal 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students belonging to specified minority communities and economically weaker sections of West Bengal. Selected candidates will receive admission fees of ₹22,000 and a maintenance allowance of up to ₹11,000.

EligibilityDeadline Date: 30-Apr-2025

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a domicile of West Bengal
  • have secured admission to a technical/professional course in a recognsied institution within the state
  • have secured at least 50% marks in the last Higher Secondary/Graduation Examination
  • have an annual income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Note:- 

  • Students residing in West Bengal but pursuing studies in institutes outside West Bengal are not eligible (Except listed institutes).
  • The students pursuing a professional or technical course in some listed institutions outside West Bengal are also eligible to apply. Such a list of institutions is notified by WBMDFC from time to time.
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive benefits in the following ways - 

Day Scholars:

  • Admission fees - ₹22,000
  • Maintenance allowance - ₹5,500 

Hostellers:

  • Admission fees - ₹22,000
  • Maintenance allowance - ₹11,000
Documents
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Marksheet of the previous qualifying examination
  • Family income certificate 
  • First page of bank passbook
  • Institute verification form duly authenticated by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed format
How can you apply?

Follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the scholarship:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Fresh Registration 2024-2025' and then click on it. 
Step 4: Select the district where the applicant's institute is situated and click on 'Proceed.'
Step 5: Fill in the required details under the 'Student Information' and 'Scheme Eligibility' sections and Register.
Step 6: After successful registration, log in using the registered user ID and password.
Step 7: Fill in the application form, upload the relevant documents, and submit.

Note:- Students are required to submit the hard copy of the application form with the photocopies of the bank passbook to the concerned institute.

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
  • The students applying for this scholarship should fulfill the attendance criteria of the institute in which they are enrolled.
  • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by a false statement, it will be cancelled immediately and the amount will be recovered.
