Students searching for different kinds of scholarship from the government of India, cheers!! Here comes a good news for you!!
To simplify the scholarship process for students in a single window system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the UMANG app on November 23, 2017.
“Today, we launched the Umang Mobile App, which will provide over a hundred citizen-centric services. At the back-end, these services will be catered for by many different departments of the Union and State Governments. This integrated approach will add an automatic layer of ‘peer performance pressure’, in the working of these departments,” Prime Minister Modi said while launching the app.
тАЬThe global community needs to approach the issue of cyber-security with confidence, as much as with resolve. Cyber-space technologies must remain an enabler for our people,тАЭ he added.
Designed to provide a single window access to government services such as national scholarships and others, students can download this app and apply for different kinds of scholarships without consuming much time unlike searching for scholarships through desktop and laptops.
University students can check which institutions are accredited by the AICTE and young children can access educational material on the app as well.
The teachers can look up the curriculum to prepare for lessons, the parents can track the progress of the learning of their children, and there are educational resources available for children as well on the app. The material covers what students learn in school till Class X.
Students going for technical studies beyond higher secondary can look up AICTE certified institutions and courses. The service also allows users to narrow down institutions available by checking for minority quotas or Women’s colleges. Graduate, post graduate and diploma courses can be checked for AICTE certification as well.
Known as Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance, the app was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
UMANG was announced in 2016 and was scheduled to be launched in December last year but the launch of application was delayed due to numerous beta tests.
Designed for Indians to offer them access to the pan India e-Gov services, the app will cover the state, local bodies, central, and agencies of government on SMS, web, app, as well as IVR channels.
