SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a platform developed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2016 to facilitate the hosting of online courses. It stands for Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds. These courses are free of cost and can be accessed by anyone, anywhere and at any time.

SWAYAM is one of the world’s largest Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) integrated platforms. This platform consists of free online courses covering subjects from high school level to higher education including skill-based courses in order to provide efficient learning material through Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The Swayam Portal aims at connecting quality teachers to students so that they can bridge their knowledge gaps without worrying about course fees or other expenses.
It has also introduced study material in different regional languages to make education more accessible and less time-consuming.
The portal has been introduced as a massive open online learning platform helping students across the different states of the country.
It has also helped the country to become digitally literate and connected.
Students from all parts of the country can easily access these study materials.
This has bridged the gap between urban and rural education systems.

Swayam Portal 2023 – National Coordinators

The Government of India has appointed the best teachers and faculties to design the courses in the portal. To ensure the best quality content, it has also appointed nine National Coordinators. They are:

A total of 9,231 courses have been completed under this portal.
A total of 3,09,04,983 students have enrolled in different courses offered by the portal.
It has also registered 26,29,526 exams in different courses.
A total number of 16,58,020 students have completed their certification in different courses on this portal.

Swayam Portal 2023 – Advantages

Swayam Portal offers courses free of cost and certifications are also available. Along with the Swayam platform, 32 Swayam Prabha DTH channels have been launched to help students from remote areas who do not have a proper internet connection.

Note: If a student wants to receive a certificate at the end of a course, then he/ she needs to register with a minimum registration fee.

Swayam Portal 2023 – Log in

Candidates must visit the official Swayam Portal.
Then navigate to the ‘Sign-up’ option.
A new page will appear and they need to click on the ‘Sign-up’ option again.
A page will appear where candidates need to fill in some information like – Username, and the new password, and confirm the password and email address).
Once done, they need to click on the ‘Send Verification Code’ option.
Next, they will receive a verification code at their given email address.
Once they use the verification code, they can create their account on the portal by clicking on the ‘Create’ button.

E-Content Development

In the past few years, access to the internet has become easier and this has enabled the whole world to move towards digitalisation. In the contemporary world, students are learning in a global classroom and striving to enhance their knowledge and skills to be more competitive. Considering the new trends of the world, the portal has introduced an E-Content Development course. It aims at creating a better learning environment for the teachers by understanding the need of using digital devices and content. Highlights of this course are as follows:

The course aims at providing a proper understanding of digitalisation and its importance to the teachers to cater present-day learning styles to the new generation of learners.
The course will continue for a duration of 8 weeks.
The course started on January 30, 2023, and will end on March 31, 2023.
The last date to enroll for the course is February 28, 2023.

Note – This is an AICTE-approved Faculty Development Program (FDP) course.

Basic Course in Biomedical Research

The course focuses on improving the research skills of Indian medical postgraduate students and teachers in medical institutions. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has made it mandatory to create a uniform research methodology course. Some of the features of this course are as follows:

The course will help in understanding the fundamentals of research methodology in health.
The course will be conducted through video lectures, reading and other resource materials.
It is a self-paced course for postgraduate students and teachers in NMC-affiliated institutions.

Android Mobile Application Development

The Android Mobile Application Development course offers an efficient opportunity for students who are interested in developing their own apps. It provides the knowledge of using the major components of Android API along with describing the life cycle of activities, applications and fragments. This course is offering the basics of design histories and theories to develop creative, technical and analytical skills for students majoring in Animation, Design Engineering & Game Technology. Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is currently offering animation courses for 2023-24. Highlights of this course are as follows:
